Utility Technician shall be able to perform all work duties prescribed. Install and maintain equipment and perform tasks that support operations. Inspects and performs maintenance on all associated equipment. Work is performed under direct supervision with results reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to policies and procedures. This position has a two (2) year bid restriction.
Key Accountabilities
- Install and maintain required meter changes and the interruption of gas services
- Stake, read and document meters
- Review and modify leak surveys where required
- Perform idle service investigations
- Perform meter and manifold assembly checks and repairs which includes, screen and hex repairs, miscellaneous reads, replace dial glass, meter bar fabrication, meter scrape and paint
- Perform grounds maintenance such as grade and seed
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and must have a valid driver's license
Additional Qualifications
- Successful candidate(s) must complete a post offer background check and pass any required DOT drug and physical testing.
- Must meet company driving standards.
- Be willing and able to work outdoors in all types of weather.
- This position requires the ability to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking for the duration of the shift.
- This position requires regular lifting, bending, and twisting.
- Be able to use a variety of hand tools and equipment requiring upper body forces up to 40 pounds.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret maps.
- Must have the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Be willing and able to accept odd shifts, emergency assignments and work overtime per the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
