We're hiring for a position open to both Associate and Staff level candidates. The level will be determined based on the successful applicant's qualifications, experience, and skills demonstrated during the interview process.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with diesel-powered emergency standby generation systems, including operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of emergency power generation infrastructure, including generators, paralleling systems, and load management.
  • Experience supervising or leading personnel responsible for the maintenance and operation of standby power generation equipment.
  • Working knowledge of switchgear systems, including medium- and low-voltage distribution equipment, protective relays, and power system coordination.
  • Experience with Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) and Automatic Bus Transfer (ABT) systems, including testing, troubleshooting, and operational oversight.
  • Proficiency with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and industrial control systems used to monitor and control power generation and electrical distribution equipment.
  • Experience utilizing and interpreting SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems for monitoring, alarming, data analysis, and operational decision-making.
  • Ability to diagnose complex electrical, mechanical, and control system issues related to emergency power generation and distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards, electrical codes, safety regulations, and preventive maintenance practices associated with emergency standby power systems.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills with the ability to oversee contractors, technicians, and maintenance programs supporting critical power infrastructure.

This position provides supervisory oversight for the operation, maintenance, reliability, and compliance of the organization's emergency standby power generation systems, with a primary focus on diesel generators, switchgear, automatic bus transfer systems, PLC controls, and SCADA platforms. The role ensures critical power infrastructure remains operational, tested, and capable of supporting facility continuity during power interruptions.

Job Family Provides engineering and project-related support, technical project and construction management and maintenance services for all asset classes as well as planning and design of new and/or upgrade installation projects as required by PGE customers.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning Coordinates maintenance activities for distributed generation equipment. Provides guidance and subject matter expertise to others. Develops and implements maintenance schedule. Collaborate with customers to ensure maintenance activities occur in a timely manner.

Maintenance Activities Responds to customer calls regarding maintenance and prioritizes maintenance activities. Coordinates or performs preventative and emergency maintenance. Conducts site visits to evaluate risks and mitigates. Collaborates with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure compliance with environmental, safety and other laws and regulations.

Documentation Maintains maintenance documentation in accordance with standards, regulations and procedures.

Customer Support Responds to customer concerns. Provides technical advice to customers on distributed generation equipment maintenance. Collaborate with other departments or vendors to resolve issues.

Documentation and Billing Writes purchase orders and maintain billing records. Maintains records of maintenance activities and billing.

Vendor Management Selects vendors and monitors vendor performance. Establishes vendor contracts, manages vendor bills and negotiates and troubleshoots issues with vendors.

Education / Experience

Education Requires a bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., an associate degree in diesel mechanics plus additional practical experience).

Experience

  • Typically, at least two or more years of experience in equipment maintenance or related field.
  • Knowledge / Experience with distributed BESS a plus
