POSITION SUMMARY/DETAILS:
Tampa Electric is wishing to provide an opportunity for college students or recent graduates the opportunity to explore career options within the field of Substation Engineering - System Security. This includes allowing students to apply academic knowledge, skills, gain career skills, build resumes, and network with emergency management professionals.
Accountabilities:
- Create and/or modify relay protection settings for distribution and/or transmission substations.
- Provide support for System Protection & Controls Specialists on testing/commissioning of relay settings on related projects.
- Participate in meetings with internal and external departments/vendors.
- Attend training related to engineering, safety, and leadership.
Physical Location of Internship: TECO Central Service Area BLDG D
Working Conditions: In-office
Preferred Availability: Part - Time (20-40 hours)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification/GPA:
- The successful applicant should be enrolled in an ABET accredited university or college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
- To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in your university's co-op program is required.
Position Requirements: Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering
Preferred/Related Discipline: Electrical Engineering
Year in School: Junior, Senior, or Graduate.
