Job Summary
Under general direction, responsible for technical activities associated with maintaining assigned systems and components. Specific job responsibilities include monitoring and trending of equipment performance and advocating for actions to improve the reliable operation of components, systems and facilities used in the generation of electricity in a commercial nuclear power plant. Works independently with minimal guidance using knowledge of technical concepts. May provide guidance and direction to other Talen Energy employees to support production of high quality, timely and cost-effective solutions to technical problems.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement activities and programs the improve equipment reliability.

Develop and implement trending and monitoring plans for assigned systems/components to ensure safe reliable equipment performance.

Demonstrate ownership of assigned systems/components, and advocates for system performance improvement opportunities.

Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to identify and resolve equipment and system problems.

Uses existing procedures to investigate, evaluate and assist in producing technically correct and cost-effective designs or recommendations that solve ongoing problems.

Directly interface with other workgroups (i.e. Operations, Maintenance) and Station Leadership regarding system issues and improvement initiatives.

Builds relationships that will facilitate knowledge transfer, cross functional knowledge of related work groups, and ability to present work products effectively.

Assists in a variety of topics including developing procedures, improved design recommendations or new or better equipment purchase recommendations.

Routinely review industry operating experience and collaborate with industry peers and forums and effectively apply 'lessons learned' for improving system performance and reliability.

Provide technical input to support Failure Modes Analysis and Troubleshooting activities.
Basic Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent and at least one of the following

Three-years work experience with instruments, controls or electronics as found in a power plant facility. Should include at least six months of related technical training. Relevant military experience, such as Navy or Air Force instrumentation technician experience will satisfy this requirement.

Bachelor's Degree in electronics, electrical, or Instrumentation & Controls engineering.
