This position is responsible for effectively and efficiently providing operational focus, work management and process guidance to ensure consistent, reliable, efficient and cost-effective operation of the CC and broader OPC generating fleet. Responsible for development and administration of the OPC Fleet Conduct of Operations Program and ensuring compliance within the program for all CC Sites. Creates standards and associated accountability for items such as log keeping, operating rounds, temporary modifications, off-standard equipment status control process, component labeling, equipment manipulation, shift turnover practices, housekeeping practices, adverse condition monitoring and contingency planning, emergent issue decision making methodology, operator knowledge and benchmarking guidance. Works with OPC training personnel to develop and maintain training and qualification process expectations. Collaborate with the CT Fleet Work Management & Resource Specialist in consistent application of the Conduct of Maintenance across the OPC fleet, and the development of methods for knowledge capture to support succession planning and training. Support the Corrective Action Program Manager via active participation or leading teams conducting causal analysis of events across our fleet to achieve the goal of capturing lessons learned and applying fleet wide corrective actions. Coordinate and lead fleet assessments of programs established for continuous improvement and Operational Excellence. Performs benchmarking, industry group best practice evaluation and implementation, and attend conferences, training, etc. as necessary to support this role.
What You'll Do
- Establish and maintain the Conduct of Operations procedure as needed to ensure consistent and efficient execution throughout the OPC fleet; evaluate KPIs and other performance indicators to ensure compliance and best practices for efficient operations. Facilitate training to implement the new process and assessments to check and adjust as necessary for optimal benefit to Plant Operations.
- Establish, maintain and assess procedures and processes to ensure accurate plant status control methods are implemented fleet wide, including off-standard equipment status control process, wire lifts, jumper installation, etc.
- Visit plant sites on a frequent basis to facilitate adherence and improvements to the Conduct of Operations and equipment status processes. Perform training, trending and assessment of programs established as part of the Conduct of Operations. Provide management summary of assessment results and ensure procedural guidance is updated to incorporate lessons learned or industry best practices.
- Interface with the CT Fleet Work Management & Resource specialist, plant maintenance coordinators, craft, and operations to ensure consistent application of the Conduct of Maintenance across the OPC fleet. Includes providing performance reports for management review and administration of action items that are developed from those reports. Ensure cohesive philosophy where applicable between Conduct of Operations and Conduct of maintenance principles.
- Interface with the Fleet Operational Excellence Program Manager.
- Works in awkward positions (kneeling, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling.
Other Duties
- Maintain Guidance procedures associated with Conduct of Operations.
- Work with the CT Fleet Work Management & Resource Specialist, engineering and plant personnel to establish and optimize the preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Monitor performance of fleet generating facilities for status control and Conduct of Operation opportunities for improvement.
- Track assessment performance and lessons learned associated with responsible programs to ensure continued improvement and prevent recurrence of preventable issues.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
Diplomatic and negotiation skills are highly valued for this position. The candidate must possess a polished mature image to be effective with technical recommendations and diverse operating, maintenance, and management personnel.
Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred.
Experience: Eight years minimum plant operations and work management experience in an operating commercial electric power generating plant is desired. Must have experience with using a CMMS, with preference given to Maximo. Experience with procedure writing and process improvement is desired.
Equivalent Experience: Candidates with a two (2) year technical degree/ non-engineering bachelor's degree plus 10 years of directly related operations and work management experience in an electrical power plant environment or fifteen (15) years of directly related operations and work management experience may be considered.
