The Agile Product owner will collaborate between key stakeholders and other lines of business to assist the agile teams in translating those needs into functional specifications. This role will manage the process of prioritization that directly contributes to both SCRUM team's ability to develop, test, and deploy new retail products. This role requires that the individual is both strategic and hands-on technically and will employ user centered design methodology/design thinking to deliver best-in-class and customer-first experiences for NRG retail customers.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for new system functionality, production support, and changes in regulatory/utility requirements that require changes to the system.
- Provide detailed explanations of how the system processes data, including step-by-step flow of transactions, inputs, outputs, dependencies, and integrations.
- Independently validate data, system behavior, and configuration decisions to confirm feasibility of business requests.
- Independently elicit requirements from stakeholders without reliance on operations or the development team to supply process details.
- Translate business needs into clear, concise, and testable User Stories that include:
- Defined business value
- Detailed acceptance criteria
- Explicit system process details
- Ensure User Stories are production-ready before refinement sessions and require no further clarification from operations.
- Continuously refine and prioritize the backlog to ensure clarity, alignment, and readiness for sprint planning.
- Act as the primary point of contact between stakeholders and the Agile development team.
- Provide immediate and detailed answers to team questions regarding system functionality and process impacts.
- Remove ambiguity from requirements by proactively providing detailed SAP process information and ensuring development work is unblocked.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives).
- Ensure all User Stories meet the Definition of Ready (DoR) before entering a sprint.
- Guarantee backlog prioritization reflects business value and aligns with strategic objectives.
- Validate completed work against acceptance criteria and sign off on deliverables with full accountability for accuracy.
- Deliver Concise Release Notes for Sprint Releases including any net new process documentation or resolution, outlining the direct business need of the delivered User Story.
