An Electric Utility Pole Joint Use Line Technician is a critical field role responsible managing attachments on the utility's distribution poles shared with telecommunications, cable, broadband, and other third-party providers. This position ensures compliance with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), joint use agreements, safety standards, and regulatory requirements while facilitating efficient pole attachments. The technician supports 3rd party on-site data collection, structural assessments, and make-ready engineering to maintain system reliability, safety, and revenue from pole attachments. The successful candidate will possess the ability to work with others to solve problems quickly and accurately while recommending or implementing effective solutions. This position is business-business customer facing role working directly with telecommunications and fiber attachers.
Accountabilities
- Work with internal stakeholders and external attachers to process attachment requests, resolve conflicts, and facilitate permitting through systems like NJUNS. Track pre- and post-construction inspections.
- Maintain a balanced workload across multiple consulting firms performing the design work for this program.
- Provide updated annual and bi-annual billing information for joint use attachments.
- Recommend process enhancements for joint use programs, pole inspections, and data management. Stay on current industry trends, FCC rules and technologies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High School or GED diploma required.
- Associate degree in Business, Science or Engineering Technology; or an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience preferred.
- Basic job knowledge of electric utility operations and any specialized knowledge of technical trades, constructions, planning or office operations areas.
- Must have a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
- Familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
