JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Leadership Learning and Development Specialist. This role is responsible for the design, facilitation, and continuous improvement of engaging leadership learning experiences, with a strong emphasis on interactive facilitation and applied learning.
Reporting to the Section Manager, Learning & Development, this position acts as a trusted learning partner, delivering learning solutions that support leadership capability, and organizational performance.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Prepare and facilitate engaging classroom training sessions as the primary responsibility, using facilitative techniques that promote active participation, dialogue, reflection and practical application to meet diverse participant needs, aligning with organizational goals.
- Adapt facilitation approaches in real time based on learner dynamics, feedback, and business context.
- Act as the primary learning contact and advisor to support target client development, learning and training needs (leadership behaviours) to meet business needs, and performance outcomes.
- Plan, organize and conduct needs analysis and assessments to recognize skill and/or knowledge gaps, and recommend appropriate learning solutions.
- Design, develop, revise, and enhance learning solutions using adult learning principles, experiential methodologies, and existing organizational frameworks.
- Incorporate management and organizational theory into practice through learning and training programs, as applicable.
- Monitor and evaluate training programs for program effectiveness on an ongoing basis to assess effectiveness, learner experience, and impact on performance.
- Provide subject matter expertise (SME) related to training technologies, instructional methodologies, facilitation best practices, and discipline specific knowledge.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Four-year university degree in business, human resources management, humanities and social sciences.
- Requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant learning and development experience with demonstrated application of adult learning principles in organizations.
- Previous experience designing and delivering adult learning solutions.
- Skilled in facilitating learning experiences for seasoned adult learners using facilitative approaches to support engagement, dialogue and practical application.
- Requires a good knowledge of computer software applications, such as Excel and Power Point to develop learning materials, training plans, presentations, and reports.
