Spire seeks an Instrumentation & Control Supervisor that will be responsible for monitoring, leading, and coordinating Instrumentation & Control required work activities on multiple projects according to Spire's guidelines ensuring the proper installation, maintenance, and repair quality. The Instrumentation & Control Supervisor will also ensure adherence to safety standards, installation and environmental standards, observance to safety rules and regulations to promote a positive safety culture and environmental awareness for safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance concerns.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the oversight of company strategies to ensure the health and safety of all employees in the department
Organize daily and weekly work schedules
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local codes and regulations
Schedule and supervise required inspection and calibration of equipment
Review all system documentation for completeness, accuracy, and content
Supervise I&C Technicians at various work locations, assign daily work, special projects, and provide the necessary departmental guidance
Conduct department safety meetings, investigate and review all department incidents, injuries and near misses through "root-cause analysis" reports
Supervise the inspection, installation, operation, and maintenance of all system pressure regulating equipment, custody transfer meters, regulator stations, and City Gate facilities.
Supervise the inspection, installation, operation, and maintenance of all system odorization equipment and monitoring of distribution gas sampling.
Oversee the procurement and organization of parts and drawings for all Instrumentation & Control projects
Coordinate required inspection and calibration of departmental equipment
Monitor the distribution system and recommend any changes or upgrades necessary to ensure system reliability and safe operation of the system
Track performance of employees using GPS technology, computer software, and related mobile computer devices
Inspect the job site prior to beginning the project and discuss/plan the job with the construction foreman, general contractor, and engineering before beginning construction and installation of regulating & limiting stations. Contact outside contractors, when applicable, to coordinate our work with theirs
Oversee the procurement and organization of parts and drawings for all Instrumentation and Control projects
Records Management including tracking, updating and developing records, forms, and data entry for the I&C department
Coordinate and conduct required training of employees as necessary.
Supervise the general maintenance of all department equipment

Supervision of direct reports (I&C Technicians)
Availability for any off-hour calls. Will be subject to call-out for emergency operations and conditions
Required Education (certifications, licenses)
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent required,.
- Valid Missouri Class E License or the issuing state's equivalent and the ability to drive safely and accident free.
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
- Five years of natural gas or energy industry experience required with an understanding of pipeline and/or distribution system operations experience preferred.
- Must have a good mechanical aptitude and an understanding of general Instrumentation & Control practices and five years of experience in pipeline or natural gas related regulator and measurement work. Experience in general natural gas distribution practices may be considered in lieu of specific Instrumentation & Control experience.
- Must be proficient with the use of a computer, the mobile solution systems, and various system mapping programs
- Knowledge of the Spire Instrumentation & Control policies & procedures, standards and OQ requirements
- Working knowledge of employee relations, the collective bargaining agreement, policies, and procedures
