Summary
The Transmission Engineering Programs group is responsible for the development and management of Transmission Capital and Capital Maintenance Prioritization Committee (CMPC) projects within Transmission Engineering. The Transmission Engineering Programs group is part of the Oncor Transmission Business Unit under the Engineering and Operations Branch and is responsible for engineering programs such as the Telecom Refresh Program and the Oncor System Resiliency Program. The Transmission Engineering Programs group coordinates with numerous internal organizations such as: Oncor Information Technology (IT), corporate security, telecom, local district operations, system protection, land and Right of Way (ROW) group, construction, local customer operations, and Transmission Program Management Office (TPMO). A Transmission Engineering Programs project requires the ability to coordinate multiple activities, apply sound engineering principles, and a diligent focused work effort.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Directly or through others, the incumbent:
- Working with a Transmission Engineering Resource Engineer or consultant to produce engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and bills of material for transmission engineering projects in accordance with Company practices while meeting appropriate performance standards. This will require the use of engineering disciplines and practices.
- Working with a Transmission Engineering Resource Engineer or consultant to provide engineering designs and solutions for the installation of both technology equipment and physical security equipment.
- Is responsible for overseeing the scheduling of outside consultants to ensure on time deliverables and installation of equipment.
- Assisting in the training of new Transmission Engineering employees concerning telecom requirements, decisions, and processes.
- Prepare budgetary cost estimates and work authorizations to obtain financial approval for assigned projects.
- Initiate requests for project material.
- Assist in construction coordination of the project using on-site meetings and material requisition.
- Ensures that Oncor Telecom solutions, devices, and equipment meet Transmission line and station design and safety standards.
- Utilize computer-based engineering design tools, material processing, and accounting systems.

Education and Experience
Technical Specialist I
Applicants must have one of the following in order to be considered:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required, and six years of experience in Transmission
- Two-Year Technical Degree from a certified college and also have a minimum of four years experience in Transmission OR
- Four-year Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology Degree from a certified university and also have a minimum of three years experience in Transmission OR
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Engineering Degree (Civil or Electrical) from a certified university and also have a minimum of two years of experience in Transmission.
Technical Specialist II
Applicants must have one of the following in order to be considered:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required, and ten years of experience in Transmission or Telecom or as a Technical Specialist I
- Two-Year Technical Degree from a certified college and also have a minimum of six years experience in Transmission OR
- Four-year Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology Degree from a certified university and also have a minimum of three years' experience in Transmission or Telecom as a Technical Specialist I OR
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Engineering Degree (Civil or Electrical) from a certified university and also have a minimum of six years of experience within Transmission
