This position collaborates closely with both the Utility and Property Accounting teams with dual reporting to the Property Accounting Manager and the Utility Accounting Manager. The position is responsible for the coordination, preparation, and review of regulatory filings and related support activities as they apply to these two teams and as they may impact other departments. The role ensures that all required reports, schedules, and data responses are completed accurately, consistently, and submitted on time to the appropriate Regulatory Affairs department for their ultimate submittal to the respective State Commissions for AGL, CGC, Nicor, and VNG.
The role involves compiling and reviewing year end regulatory schedules, gathering and validating supporting data, and coordinating input from multiple individuals and departments to ensure accuracy and meet tight filing deadlines. It also includes leading others through these efforts and may include direct supervision of another team member, including review of work product and guidance on FERC accounting practices. This individual will also assist in responding to data requests from various state regulatory agencies and other stakeholders, maintaining organized documentation and clear communication throughout the process. This role must work well under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines. In office 4 days work environment.
Job Duties:
Functional Expertise:
Fundamentally strong in accounting and knowledge of U.S. GAAP with proven knowledge of utility and/or property accounting matters.
Prepares necessary schedules timely and accurately of FERC Form No. 2 or Form 21 annual reports for four regulated utilities, ensuring compliance with all applicable reporting standards and deadlines. This includes reconciling GAAP to FERC financial statement differences and preparation of annual report pages.
Prepares detailed supporting schedules and analyses for rate case filings; researches, interprets, and responds to data requests and inquiries from regulatory agencies and other stakeholders.
Actively participates in the development and review of depreciation studies by collaborating with external consultants and internal experts, analyzing data, and providing timely information and responses to support study assumptions and conclusions.

Provides leadership in the proactive review and analysis of financial information, uses professional judgement and expertise to make recommendations to management regarding complex accounting transactions.
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of utility operations and cost structures, linking accounting outcomes to rate making implications and regulatory reporting requirements.
Collaborates with regulatory affairs, regulatory accounting, financial planning, and operations teams to ensure accounting analyses and regulatory filings accurately reflect business activities and comply with applicable accounting and reporting frameworks.

Education and Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
10+ years experience performing accounting activities
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred

Demonstrates working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, FERC System of Accounts and energy industry
