Description

The Land Maintenance Supervisor supports the safe and reliable operation of AES's solar facilities by leading vegetation management and general site maintenance activities. This role works hands-on and oversees small teams performing mowing, trimming, roadway upkeep, fencing repairs, snow removal, and related maintenance tasks across large solar sites. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and able to operate and maintain a variety of equipment with minimal oversight.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all team members and contractors demonstrate safe work practices in accordance with OSHA, NFPA, state and local codes, and AES Solar O&M safety policies and procedures during the performance of facilities management activities.

  • Conduct vegetation maintenance and abatement on solar power generation plants, including mowing, trimming, brush clearing, and weed control.

  • Safely operate riding mowers, tractors, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, rotary cutters, and other tools and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.

  • Ensure that assigned vehicle, tooling, electrical devices, software, and company property are maintained.

  • Assist with interdepartmental maintenance activities as needed.

  • Maintain and repair gravel roads and access paths, including grading and filling.

  • Repair and maintain fencing, gates, and site perimeter areas.

  • Perform snow plowing and winter storm response as needed.

  • Assist with loading, hauling, and positioning large trailers.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and a clear understanding of safe workplace practices. CDL not required, but preferred.

  • Must be able to take direction, work independently with minimal oversight, and communicate effectively and respectfully communicate with peers, supervisor, and all other individuals both within and outside of the organization.

  • Must be able to travel between sites, work on-call during off-shift hours, and work occasional weekends.

  • Must be able to operate in a manner consistent with organizational policies, procedures, and vision.

  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards, procedures and 
    use required PPE (provided by AES), including hard hat, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection.

  • Must have the ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk short distances for 8-10 hours a day. Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.

  • Work is primarily performed in the field with occasional time in the field office.
