Substation Design Engineer
The ideal candidate will live in Dayton, Ohio, or be willing to relocate. We offer a competitive salary and generous starting paid time off of 22 days each year.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed design of all or parts of 12kV through 345kV substations consisting of physical layouts, one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Produce detailed engineering design packages in accordance with AES Ohio and relevant industry standards (IEEE, NERC, etc.).

Prepare procurement specifications for material and services, evaluate proposals, and work with Purchasing to obtain purchase orders.

Provide engineering support to field crews on construction and maintenance activities.

Assist in the planning, design, and construction management of substation projects.

Maintain and optimize internal design standards and engineering databases.

Assist in after-hours storm restoration and long duration customer outages as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Preferred Skills & Abilities

Experience with Bentley MicroStation or similar CAD software.

Passing grade on the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam

Familiarity with and application of electrical substation equipment (transformers, circuit breakers, instrument transformers, disconnect switches, relays, etc.)

Ability to work safely and integrate safety into engineering designs. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Access, etc.)
