This position will be responsible for supporting the Controller team for the financial reporting team. This position will assist with closing the ledgers, account analysis and assist in the preparation, review and coordination of reporting for internal needs. This position is responsible for maintenance of quality control standards around the preparation of journal entries, workpapers and review of work products to support the consolidated monthly financial statement and monthly close process.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare, review and support financial reporting team on month-end close responsibilities.
Prepare account analysis and assist in financial statement analysis and reporting
Prepare journal entries and review of journal entries prepared and recorded by team members.
Assist in the account reconciliation process to ensure reconciliations are timely and provide adequate sign-off and support.
Coordinate with other departments to analyze and review various inputs to the monthly close process to confirm quality and accuracy of supporting information.
Ensure financial reporting and accounting controls and related documentation are in place and tested in compliance with SOX 404 requirements, including IPE documentation.
Seek out and implement opportunities for process improvements
Assist in the preparation of financial information for various management presentations and ad hoc analysis
Keep abreast of changing US GAAP, SEC and regulatory rules and regulations
Assist with internal and external audit requests
Execute special project and ad hoc requests, as assigned.

Required Education (certifications, licenses)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar degree
CPA preferred
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
At least 3 years relevant experience
Experience with FERC and utility regulatory accounting strongly preferred
Strong, detailed knowledge of US GAAP
Advanced skills and experience with Microsoft Excel
Experience working in large scale ERP systems such as Oracle, Oracle HFM experience strongly preferred
