The GIS Technician Associate level is responsible for creating cartographic output (map making), data manipulation, data creation from digitization or field survey, basic data management, and basic map development. Interpret and enter field data into GIS related systems and databases. Additional expertise will be needed to enter into the higher-level Technician role which is obtained through experience and education.

Job Description
What you'll do:
- Create, revise and maintain technical data used for reports maps and sketches.
- Create revise and maintain material and property equipment records.
- Obtain information required to perform work from multiple resources including; verbal/electronic communications, sketches, marked drawings, field notes, vendors' catalogs and technical reference manuals.
- Operate large scale plotters and other duplicating equipment.
- Work with other organizations of the company to resolve discrepancies to assure that data reflects accurate field conditions.
- Generate reports defined to pull data from graphical and non-graphical databases.
What we're looking for:
GIS Technician Associate (SG 03) minimum requirements are listed below:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Civil Engineering, Drafting or related with no experience needed.
- High School/equivalency with 3 years of related GIS work experience.
Additional requirements are needed to hire into the SG 04 Technician level.
Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below:
- Valid state driver's license.
Other requirements:
- Familiarity with conventional drafting symbols and drafting methods.
- Familiarity with computer graphics and automated drawing methods and have the ability to distinguish colors.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel and Access.
- Travel required / Outside of business hours.
