Position Description
The Chief of Staff creates an environment for the CEO that results in effective time management, adequate flow of information, understanding of the political landscape and meeting preparedness, to support effective decision-making processes. This position is an integral part of the CEO's day-to-day activities and as such, will identify key issues, industry research and input from other leaders to act as an advisor to the CEO. Leads the CEO Administration team to ensure Officer team receives reliable and efficient administrative support. Lead projects as directed, supports the officer team on major initiatives, providing additional capabilities and capacity.
Position-Related Responsibilities
- Manage information flow to/from the CEO
	- Understand the what, why and when
- Ensure required information is on time and on target
- Manage any follow-up/action items that are required
 
- Manage development of presentations
	- Understand the objective, the audience and key messages
- Develop timeline and working with leaders, identify who to involve
- 
		Develop presentation materials, background information, notes and talking points with support from others in relevant departments 
 
- Ensure the materials are delivered on time and on target
	- Ensure CEO is prepared in advance of meetings and presentations
- Understand the objective, the audience and key messages
- Conduct background research on relevant issues/audiences
- Help refine the CEO's message and ensure that it is understood by the right audiences
- Review developed materials with CEO
 
- Advisor to the CEO
	- Regularly attend meetings with the CEO; maintain notes regarding key issues and action items
- Keep track of projects and issues important to the CEO and other leaders
- Keep CEO abreast of industry issues and trends, community issues and current event
- Provide constructive feedback to CEO
- 
		Work with Executive Coordinators to help CEO maintain a balanced work schedule 
 
- Advisor regarding CEO decisions and public engagements relative to Political Landscape
	- Monitor and interpret local, state, and federal legislative developments affecting the utility sector.
- Advise the CEO on political risks, regulatory changes, and emerging policy trends.
- Build and maintain relationships with key government officials, regulatory bodies, and community leaders.
- 
		Coordinate with Government Affairs, Legal, Corporate Communications and Regulatory teams to ensure unified messaging and strategic positioning.
