Job Summary
- Provides consultation services to project managers/project leads on technical requirements to ensure the successful completion of substation projects. This includes consulting on design review, development and implementation for incommissioning substation projects. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for routinely reviewing prints, procuring equipment, developing handbook articles, designing safety document processes, interpreting MIOSHA/ OSHA regulations by working with Substation Design, Engineering and other support organizations SPAN OF CONTROL: No Direct Reports
Key Accountabilities
- Acts as substation technical liaison for large scale substations projects. Understands the complexities of substations procedures (such as grounding, relay operations, protective transactions etc.) as well as substations equipment and provides the vision, leadership, and project expertise for assigned substation project work
- Partners with multiple project stakeholders in managing various intermediate-to-large (mostly capital) substations projects and/or multiple small projects by providing substations technical expertise for related projects. Reviews operability of substations equipment and provides effective feedback to project leaders/stakeholders
- Interfaces with project stakeholders (inclusive of internal organizations like Substation Design, System Operations Center and Outage Coordination Committee as well as general contractors, vendors etc.), which includes drawing preliminary One Lines and the creation of in commissioning document
- Ensures that drawings are accurate and that drawings and equipment are labelled correctly. Verifies that the execution of changes is properly documented, justified and vigorously pursued via regular reporting; reviews, audits and implements changes in a timely manner
- Manages communications, crew coordination, risk management, and ensures that projects are implemented according to substations standards; ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and other regulatory requirements
- Reviews technical prints (conduit diagram, schematic/wiring diagrams etc.), writes handbook articles, procedures, safety documents with quality and consistency by adhering to substations operations standards
- Member and substations representative for the Enterprise Electrical Council as well as subcommittee editor for Electrical Safety Standard. Interprets OSHA/MIOSHA regulations; Participates in safety investigations as assigned #LI-AH1
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma and the knowledge and capabilities typically acquired through 10 years of substations experience
- OR Associates Degree in a technical field (like Engineering) and the knowledge and capabilities typically acquired through 7 years of substations/project management experience
- OR Bachelors Degree in a technical field (like Engineering) and the knowledge and capabilities typically acquired through 5 years of substations/project management experience
