Currently, our Supply Chain division has an Engineering Technologist opportunity within our Supply Chain division.
The Engineering Technologist is responsible for supporting configuration management and ensuring parts and components are identified properly in approved model lists and item assembly structures with appropriate requirements.
This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.

What will you be responsible for?
- Prepare technical procurement specifications.
- Prepare and maintain Item Assembly Structures.
- Interact with site personnel to resolve issues which may involve walkdowns and provide parts support when required.
- Assist in assessments of whether to make or buy equipment/parts, and whether to reverse engineer a part, or have original equipment manufacturer supply it.
- Identify obsolescence solutions.
- Support activities to ensure parts availability in support of outage and online preparation milestones.
- Update spare parts using design documents.
- Develop storage and handling requirements for parts.
- Develop and maintain computer applications and ensure databases match plant configuration for incoming purchased material/equipment and field installation.
- Determine technical specification requirements from technical records, including engineering drawings, manuals, handbooks, and existing technical specifications. Investigate and propose parts substitution and compile substitution packages.
- Walkdown equipment to resolve legacy issues.
- Participate in training programs as required.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Requires a knowledge of design theory as applied to mechanical design in order to assist in the design of station systems and the various mechanical equipment associated with nuclear generating facilities, and prepare composite specifications for the procurement of equipment and parts.
- Requires knowledge of computer applications programming and associated equipment.
- Requires a knowledge of English, both oral and written, to generate effective communication with others.
- Knowledge of ASME Section III and CSA-N285-12 are an asset.
Education and Experience:
- This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired either through the successful completion of Grade XII in a Secondary, Commercial or Technical School plus a three-year course of concentrated study in the appropriate subjects obtained in the Province of Ontario from a College of Applied Arts and Technology, Poly-technical Institute or Community College or by having the equivalent level of education.
- A period of over ten years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
- Requires field experience to learn the limitations of equipment and the methods used to meet special field problems.
- Requires hands-on experience in drafting to be able to portray designs in sketch or drawing form.
- Requires design experience in relation to the solution to complex matters concerning plant facilities.
- Requires on-the-job experience to become familiar with the mechanical/instrumentation and control design work within the Division, nuclear facility operations and safety implications, organizational setup, the responsibilities of the department, interrelations with divisional work groups, and applicable standard practices and procedures, etc.
- Requires experience to understand design documentation requirements, and regulatory requirements for parts (CSA, ASME, MCCR, MOE, etc.).
- Requires experience to have gained a working knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA) requirements (CSA N299), ISO 9000) as well as commercial requirements relative to equipment and parts specifications.
- Requires an understanding of loss control principles in order to develop and/or maintain composite specifications.
- Requires experience working with computer databases in order to develop and maintain computer applications for the Section's internal processes.
