Description

Position Summary

As a Senior Analyst within PG&E's Energy Policy and Procurement (EPP) organization, you will lead settlement operations for complex Bilateral and Central Procurement Entity (CPE) contracts. You'll play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely settlements and compliance with regulatory obligations, while driving process improvements and supporting cross-functional initiatives.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The work location is Oakland, CA. 

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of the job posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.  This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.  

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area: $98,000.00 to $134,200.00

Job Responsibilities

Process Improvement/Projects

  • Uses subject expert knowledge, communication skills, and experience to anticipate issues and take steps to mitigate negative impacts related to our settlement processes.
  • Initiates and fosters all cross-business relationships critical to support Electric Settlements.
  • Implement improvements and process automation for invoice estimation.
  • Lead system upgrades and implementations that impact settlement functions.
  • Addresses emerging control issues and identifies potential compliance risks.

Electric Contract Settlements

  • Lead settlement and compliance activities for complex Bilateral and CPE energy contracts, including managing payables/receivables, resolving settlement discrepancies, and ensuring all activities comply with contract provisions.
  • Perform invoice validation, including processing of statements for payables, creating invoices for receivables, managing payables/receivables, and resolving settlement discrepancies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and program lead on CPE settlement initiatives, managing complex Bilateral and CPE energy contracts, and providing leadership on settlement and compliance activities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional issues with counterparties, CPE team, Short Term Electric Supply, Contract Management, Legal, and other departments, including addressing settlement-related issues and potential disputes.
  • Review and interpret contracts, identify settlement risks, recommend solutions, and serve as a key liaison for internal and external stakeholders on contractual matters.

Reporting and Compliance

  • Track costs and volumes related to assigned contracts for financial reporting purposes.
  • Work with others in the organization and external departments (e.g., Corporate Accounting, Law, Revenue Requirements, etc.) to properly categorize costs for recovery.
  • Work within the existing control structure to meet all Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), internal and external auditing requirements.  Ensure that all activities and documentation comply.
  • On an as-needed basis, serve as a witness and/or witness assistant, respond to data requests and develop data requests for submittal in regulatory and legislative proceedings.
  • Work with Contract Management, Revenue Requirements, and Corporate Accounting as needed for proper reporting of new procurement activities.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years or more of applicable work experience

Desired:

  • BA/BS in Business, Math, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Data Science or related quantitative discipline
  • Skilled in use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, VBA, Co-pilot
  • Advanced knowledge of Power BI
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL
  • Knowledge of Lean Operating System and the Five Plays
  • Knowledge of Energy Procurement business
  • Knowledge of CAISO and electric settlement processes
  • Attention to detail/high level of organization
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Business/Financial Acumen
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
