Your role in our success:
The Instructional Designer will research, design and develop training experiences and supporting materials for self-directed, experiential, and formal learning to meet the needs of the business. This position plays a critical role on the talent development team by building structured, scalable learning experiences aligned with role expectations, operational performance, and career development.
What you'll be working on:
- Performs training needs analysis. Gathers information about needs by collecting data about the learners and/or organizational performance requirements.
- Uses a variety of techniques for determining the instructional content of courses, curricula and programs incorporating sound principles of adult learning theory, ensuring that program design accommodates different learning styles.
- Creates design documents for classroom, self-paced/online, and blended learning including measurable learning objectives, instructional activities, and other learning tools and resources.
- Uses a variety of learning technologies and instructional methods to develop instructional materials/assets which may include participant guides, facilitator guides, presentations, videos, assessments, observation checklists, job aids, etc.
- Manages projects from inception to completion and applies a project management approach to setting and adhering to touchpoints and deadlines. Follows up with identified stakeholders to ensure timely completion of associated deliverables.
- Actively solicits and integrates feedback from users and stakeholders to continuously elevate the quality and effectiveness of learning materials.
- Exhibits consistent quality of work. Proofreads and edits own work and the work of others to improve quality, readability, consistency, and effectiveness of learning materials.
- Develops and maintains instructional design standards, templates, and scalable development processes.
- Provides guidance to internal partners or vendors supporting content development.
- Remains current on developments in training and instructional design to make recommendations such as new instructional design technology and approaches.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Who you are:
- Bachelor's degree in instruction design, education or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- 1-5 years of experience designing and developing interactive learning courses and programs. Experience in the utilities sector is a plus.
- Standard driver's license.
- Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles, learning styles, and experiential learning.
- Experience with authoring and multimedia tools e.g. PowerPoint, Canva, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate 360, Vyond, WellSaid Labs, etc. Experience with video editing a plus.
- Experience with eLearning standards (SCORM, AICC) and Learning Management Systems (Cornerstone or SAP preferred)
- Exceptional writing & communication skills.
- Project management skills and the ability to balance multiple initiatives.
- Customer service oriented.
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.
- An enthusiastic team player with a passion to create a productive,
motivated and skilled workforce. - Ability to demonstrate flexibility and manage change.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
