Our USGO Mid-Atlantic Region, MLP West Area team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and presence in Corning, New York to support our Natural Gas compression, measurement and regulation facilities.
We are seeking an experienced, multiskilled Electrical and Instrumentation Controls Technician who is proficient in troubleshooting, maintaining, and operating natural gas compressor station control systems, measurement equipment, and other related facilities. As an integral contributor to the team, you may be asked to contribute to a variety of Electrical, Mechanical, Pipeline, or other Operational tasks required to successfully manage and maintain operational efficiency.
This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses excellent problem solving, teamwork, communication, and decision-making skills.
What you'll do
- Work within a dedicated team to efficiently prioritize and manage required work tasks, including Regulatory driven activities with critical timelines. Must be team-oriented, readily collaborating with peers for maximum team contribution and results. Willing to lead or contribute to the team wherever needed.
- Test, calibrate, troubleshoot, diagnose, scope, plan, repair, and support where needed, a variety of electrical, instrumentation, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment required to Operate a mainline Natural Gas Compressor station, pipeline, and supporting facilities.
- Install, commission, test, repair, and maintain compressor station, meter station, communication systems. and other facilities related to the pipeline system
- Oversee, direct, and perform tasks related to the installation, start up, and repair of measurement and regulation equipment, such as: various types of meters, recording gauges, flow computers, transmitters, relief valves, regulators, valve actuators, pneumatic and digital controllers, filtration devices, odorizers, and gas quality devices (chromatographs and gas samplers)
- Perform routine and major maintenance on natural gas driven compressor units and associated auxiliary equipment
- Maintain power, process controls, programmable logic controllers (PLC), electric generation equipment, and orifice meters
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain instrumentation, electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, apparatuses, and fixtures, using hand and power tools
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, equipment, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of the breakdown and correct the problem
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustments or repair, ensuring compliance with codes
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, frequency generators, and oscilloscopes
- Receive and maintain equipment documentation (blueprints, schematics, line diagrams, technical manuals, operation manuals) and serve as the facility technical resource in their review and use
- Compile, prepare, and maintain written records related to DOT auditable inspections, accuracy tests, calibrations, odorant tests, equipment change outs, relief valve tests, and gas quality analysis such as dewpoint levels, specific gravity, and gas samples
- Work closely with field personnel to schedule and properly route gas in the event of pipeline right of way maintenance or an emergency repair to maintain delivery to internal and external customers
- Locate pipelines per One Call & Project requirements, assist in gas handling activities, and perform valve maintenance
- Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc. in SAP
- Other tasks as required
