JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Manager, Projects.
Reporting to the Project Director, the Senior Manager, Projects will assume a lead role in providing leadership to OPG employees on a variety projects. This leader will meet safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance through executing projects in accordance with the standards and processes defined for phase-gating, integration management, scope management, schedule management, cost management, integrated change control, quality management, resource management, communications management, stakeholder management and reporting, risk management, estimating, and procurement/contract management. The Senior Manager, Projects will set and manage team priorities and ensure projects are supported and executed per the approved Business Case Summaries, Project Charter, and Project Management Plans.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Project Management Leadership: Develop, implement, and enforce industry-standard project management practices across scope, schedule, cost, risk, and communication.
- Lifecycle Planning & Execution: Define project scope and work breakdown structures; prepare and manage Project Management Plans, business cases, charters, and closeout activities.
- Risk & Change Control: Identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and manage integrated change control for scope, schedule, and budget adjustments.
- Governance & Gate Reviews: Prepare and present gate packages, ensuring compliance with phase-gate requirements and securing approvals for project milestones and funding releases.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and report on project progress using earned value, forecasting methods, and performance metrics to drive timely and informed decisions.
- Financial Oversight: Develop estimates, monitor project costs, maintain budget integrity, and ensure accurate and confidential financial reporting.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Foster communication across functional teams, project sponsors, and external stakeholders to align on goals, progress, and expectations.
- Contract & Procurement Management: Oversee procurement activities, including scope of work, bid evaluations, contractor oversight, and contract compliance.
- Field & Quality Management: Ensure quality assurance/control, field engineering coordination, and commissioning activities are executed to standards and protocols.
- Team & Portfolio Leadership: Lead a team of Project Managers, promote collaboration and safety, and oversee a portfolio of projects to ensure strategic alignment and delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree or equivalent experience in engineering, construction or manufacturing, or a related field. PMP is considered an asset.
- 7+ years' experience in Nuclear, Project Management, and/or related fields.
- 5+ years' experience in a leadership role.
- Experience in the operation of nuclear generating plants, including specialized equipment, processes, tooling, techniques, and methods used, and the application of the specialty to nuclear generating stations and associated facilities an asset.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
