Job Purpose
The Lead Billing Analyst serves as the primary resource and subject matter expert for the Billing Analysis Team. While not a formal people leader, this role directs daily workflow, provides technical guidance, and acts as the escalation point for complex billing issues. This role manages vendor relationships related to cash processing, leads testing initiatives for billing areas, and participates fully in core Billing Analyst responsibilities to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Core Responsibilities

- Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance accuracy, compliance, operational efficiency, and customer experience.
- Drive results through the use of data queries and the development and enhancement of Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Lead and coordinate testing activities for related systems, process improvements, and system upgrades; collaborate with Solution Architects, IT, project teams, and business units to ensure thorough testing and validation of outcomes.
- Perform day-to-day analyst functions including data reconciliation, issue resolution, and reporting; provide subject matter expertise for solving complex scenarios.
- Direct daily work of other team analysts; act as the primary point of contact for technical questions and escalations; mentor and coach team members on best practices, tools, and processes.
- Oversee related vendor relationships, ensuring service levels, compliance, and performance standards are met.

Skills
- Proficient in SQL

- Demonstrated strengths in data management, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a focus on transforming data analyses into actionable process improvements.
- Proficient in executing comprehensive QA processes for enhancements and change management, from test planning through post-deployment validation.
Education
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Experience
5-7 years' experience with progressive levels of responsibility in an analytics type role. Previous formal or informal leadership experience required. Utility experience preferred.
