Responsibilities
1. Supports the preparation and review of the Company's annual and quarterly SEC, FERC, and state regulatory commission filings in accordance with applicable regulations and ensures a tie-out to supporting documentation.
2. Responsible for participating in general ledger maintenance process which includes new account set-ups and mapping for internal and external reporting purposes.
3. Plans and develops rate case exhibits used in determining utility revenue requirements and responses to rate case data requests which are of major magnitude or scope.
4. Prioritizes and directs team activities related to one or more functional accounting areas or processes. This includes assigning and scheduling work duties to meet completion dates.
5. Continually looks for (and encourages team members to look for) ways to improve processes for greater effectiveness and efficiency.
6. Provides formal supervision to the team members including, but not limited to the following activities:-assists in the development and achievement of goals for all team members that align and support company and department goals;-provides ongoing feedback to team members;-provides coaching and guidance towards team members development;-when necessary creates a performance plan for team members not meeting expectations;-takes disciplinary/corrective action when necessary involving Human Resources and/or supervisor.
7. Completes individual technical accounting and business-related tasks as assigned in a timely manner and with a high degree of accuracy, in accordance with applicable GAAP, regulatory requirements (FERC and state regulatory commissions), and SOX controls.
8. Coordinates with other departments to complete timely reviews of contracts, with a focus on accounting considerations such as leasing or cloud computing arrangements.
9. Acts as liaison with other departments within PPL and other constituencies outside of PPL as necessary.
10. Researches and documents accounting issues in technical memos and presents conclusions to more senior levels of management and external auditors. Experienced members would be expected to research highly complex issues or guide team members in performing and documenting accounting research.
11. Develops a thorough understanding of applicable financial and reporting systems, controls, and interfaces, as well as understands how to efficiently query necessary financial data from systems.
12. Supports ad hoc projects and requests.
13. If applicable, in-person supervision of employees to ensure compliance with FLSA wage and hour issues as well as to monitor compliance with safety rules.
14. If applicable, physical presence in the office/on-site to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in accounting or business discipline.
2. Five years of accounting experience with extensive knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements, with at least 3 years of leadership experience.
3. Knowledge of regulatory accounting under ASC 980.
4. Knowledge of FERC Uniform System of Accounts.
5. Effective leadership, interpersonal, and communications skills.
6. Working knowledge of computer systems and applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. CPA, MBA, or other advanced accounting or business degree.
2. Experience in accounting for regulated utilities.
3. Experience in all areas of GAAP, SEC reporting and internal controls/Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
