Position Summary

The Director, Electric Construction Program Management is responsible for the construction, project and contract management of PG&E's electric distribution overhead and underground facilities. The Director leads the completion of annual work plans to ensure safe and reliable electric service delivery to customers. The incumbent also provides high level oversight of activities related to PG&E's involvement in the state infrastructure projects (i.e.: high speed rail, watershed, etc). The Director will provide strategic leadership and direction to general construction, project and contract management directors managing a large workforce including ESC and IBEW union- represented employees. The incumbent plays a primary role in emergency program preparedness and emergency response through the incident command system impacting electric operations.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

Reporting Relationship

The Director, Electric Construction Program Management will report into the Senior Director, Electric Construction. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures maintenance, construction and compliance objectives are achieved in assigned region within budget, on time and within CPUC regulations.
  • Provides leadership clarity and direction to ensure the region has a well-defined annual work plan, operating budget, and necessary resources to execute on the priorities of the work plan.
  • Oversees procurement and oversight of all resources in the region, including but not limited to estimating resources, dependencies management, construction resources, and shared support (e.g. clerical, fleet, facilities, IT).
  • Manages an annual budget of approximately $200-250 million to meet financial and regulatory guidelines. Oversees performance reporting and corporate reporting (e.g. BPR, STIP) for the region.
  • Improves electric system reliability and implements strategies to improve distribution outage frequency and durations.
  • Understands and proactively addresses regional customer needs and leads cross-functional initiatives to increase customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures adherence to established processes and procedures on safety, compliance, and work and resource management
  • Partners with peer leaders to lead enterprise process improvement and change management.
  • Regularly travels the assigned region, meeting with employees to seek input, share company and industry information, and promote a speak up/follow up culture.
  • Partners with Human Resources to develop workforce knowledge and skills, and implements strategies to meet employee engagement, and succession planning goals. 
  • Champions effective regulatory and legislative policies through meeting all regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Proactively prepares for and responds to emergency situations and company efforts to reduce system risks. May serve as Incident Commander or Branch Director in REC/EOC major emergency activations.
  • Manages staff to accomplish results through recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition.
