Nature of Work
The Power Generation Engineer leads, oversees, and performs a variety of advanced level professional responsibilities for all aspects of complex project management for: generation asset major maintenance, over-hauls, and capital improvement additions to existing generation facilities; as well as the planning, procurement, contract review, and construction, of new power generation capital assets. Facilities may include combustion turbines, hydroelectric generation, reciprocating engines, steam boilers, utility scale or distributed solar and energy storage systems, and wind production facilities. This position reports to the Manager of Power Resources and serves as the mentor to other engineers in the power generation field.
This position also serves as the primary liaison for successful collaboration, design review, and electrical integration with RPU System Operations, Technical Services, and Engineering, to incorporate the necessary modifications for power generation equipment to safely and reliably sync, deliver and interact with the distribution or transmission systems.

Education and Experience
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other closely related field from an accredited four-year college or university and six (6) years of full-time employment experience managing new construction and capital improvement projects for a large industrial or power generation facility.
Licenses and Certificates
Valid driver's license
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Electrical Engineering Degree
Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) from the state of Minnesota
Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP)
National Electric Code and National Electric Safety Code knowledge and experience
MN Class A Electrician License
Experience in the planning, maintenance and/or operation of electrical generation equipment.
