POSITION CONCEPT: 
The Construction Supervisor is responsible for safely directing subcontractors work using a ZERO accident philosophy, for assisting in preparation of field installation, and monitoring daily work activities to assure subcontractors are supporting the overall project schedule. In addition, the Supervisor will oversee project logistical support activities at the Solar Energy Facility. The Supervisor will ensure the quality of all work performed while identifying construction of critical items that may have potential to impacting the work schedule. The supervisor will monitor the project for safety and work rule compliance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the principle contact with the construction team for day-to-day activities.  Monitor the construction of renewable energy facilities to ensure construction is progressing as planned and installation quality is being maintained.  Complete site-specific daily reports and safety observations for the renewable project. Daily report will include details of the work completed by each contractor, number of workers at the project site, quantities of equipment installed, critical conversations, and any other issues that affect the project.
  • Monitor safety performance. Ensure the contractor understands and adheres to Tampa Electric's Contractor Safety Management Program (CSMP). Review Job Safety Analysis and Job Hazard Analysis to ensure risks associated with the work is captured.  Report noncompliance to the Construction Superintendent and Project Manager. 
  • Review and be familiar with project documents (contracts, drawings, specifications, permitting). Must be capable of recognizing adherence to the documents, and address noncompliance with the contractor and report to Construction Superintendent and Project Manager.  Ensure overall installation of the renewable facility is in accordance with IFC drawings and industry standards.  
  • Review contractor Methods of Procedures prior to beginning work activities. Identify discrepancies within procedures and work with the contractor to ensure they clearly capture the scope of the work being completed.   
  • Review contractor weekly and monthly reports. Identify variance to baseline schedule and communicate deviations to Construction Superintendent and Project Manager. Work with the contractor to mitigate variances as needed.
  • Participate in punch list walkdowns providing input on items that do not meet project quality standards. Ensure each item is listed on the agreed upon punch list document and that all are completed prior to turnover to Operations. 
  • Participate in Contractor Safety Management Program's project close-out review of contractor safety, quality, and productivity. Provide feedback to the Construction Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Participate in Lessons Learned development at the completion of the project. Ensure demobilization of renewable project site is completed in accordance with Tampa Electric's Contractor Safety Management Program requirements.  Ensure optimal utilization of storage facilities.
  • Coordinate shipment of material to solar project sites. Maintain proper records of material and equipment being sent to project sites. 
  • Ensure EPA regulations are followed in the storing, handling, shipping, and disposing of hazardous materials/waste. Work with environmental to ensure all transportation of material is performed in accordance with DOT regulations.

EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or GED 

Preferred: Bachelors degree 

EXPERIENCE:
Required: At least 10 years experience related to heavy industrial construction or construction management or in a solar power plant or industrial environment. 

College degree may be considered in lieu of equivalent experience of four years with a bachelor's degree.

Preferred: Significant field experience in renewable energy, particularly within the utility-scale solar and/or battery storage disciplines. 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Required: Previous experience in understanding contract scopes of work, drawings and specifications is required.  Must be able to plan and organize Mechanical, Electrical and Civil/Structural projects with project stakholders including contractors to support department goals.  Must possess strong leadership qualities and have team building skills including outage coordination, problem solving, conflict resolution, work planning, and scheduling experience. Technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and/or civil structural systems is required as well as contract administrative responsibilities including supervising contractors. Previous experience with computerized work management systems. Some construction management training is required. Knowledge of construction codes/standards (AWS, ASME, ASTM, IEEE etc.) required.
