We are hiring for either an Engineer Lead/Spec or an Engineer Senior based on candidates' qualifications.
Develops plans and specifications, performs analysis, and provides reports on assigned tasks involving design and construction of new facilities or operation and maintenance of existing facilities. Technically involved in the resolution of equipment and operational problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, performing design work, and detailed checking of design computations done by others, or general coordination of specific design aspects into a project.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibilities are varied and complex. Often works outside area of assigned duties. Applies advanced skills in multiple areas. Resolves complex issues which impact business operations both inside and outside own department. Makes unreviewed decisions related to the area of responsibilities. Opinions carry significant weight in policy and strategy decisions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides subject matter expertise and engineering support for the maintenance of steam turbines and other large rotating equipment.
Maintains Mechanical Integrity maintenance programs for fleet rotating equipment.
Mentors company engineers and interns.
Prepare and interpret schematics, drawings, layouts and other visual aids.
Conducts surveys to gather field data.
Solves problems and develops solutions that call for original approach, based on thorough and comprehensive research and technical expertise.
Manages budgets, schedules, and resources for small to medium sized projects.
Functions as quality inspector or defines quality requirements on engineering designs and projects.
Review development plans for compliance with adopted engineering standards and good engineering practices.
Reviews and critiques proposed changes to engineering standards, policies and guidelines.
Core responsibilities focus on operational/tactical aspects of the organization and some strategic focus.
Provides technical presentations to elected officials, appointed boards/commissions, the public, and staff.
May act in a liaison capacity with other departments, divisions, and organizations.
Leads lower level Engineers in project completion.
Plans, prioritizes, conducts and leads assignments.
Acts as a resource for members with less experience, may direct the technical complexities of work.
Meets with general public and/or developers, landowners, and interest groups concerning zoning, subdivision projects, building projects, and engineering regulations, standards, or policies.
Serves as project or case manager in the development, facilitation, and implementation of metrics, processes and procedures.
May communicate with regulatory bodies and government agencies.
Creates and updates engineering standards, policies, guidelines and ensures procedures are in place for compliance with these policies.
All other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Lead Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 6 years related engineering experience (at least 4 years as an Engineer and a maximum of 2 years related experience which may include non-Engineer experience such as Engineering Internship, Design, Drafting, and Engineering Tech experience. This type of experience will be counted at half rate.)
Senior Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or PE and 5 years related engineering experience (at least 3 years as an Engineer and a maximum of 2 years related experience which may include non-Engineering experience such as Engineering Internship, Design, Drafting, and Engineering Tech experience. This type of experience will be counted at half rate.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience providing engineering and technical support for steam turbines and other large rotating equipment (e.g. gas turbines, pumps, compressors, fans, etc.).
Experience working in a Power Plant or large Industrial Facility (oil & gas, refinery, mill, chemical plant, etc.).
Knowledge of vibration, balancing and alignment techniques of rotating equipment.
Experience with turbine/generator vibration analysis and balancing.
Experience with Turbine Supervisory Instrumentation (TSI).
Experience troubleshooting Power Plant equipment such as Steam Turbines, Boiler Feed Pumps, Boiler Feed Pump Steam Turbines, Circulating Water Pumps, Forced Draft Fans and Gas Turbines.
Exceptional problem-solving skills.
Experience in a field service and/or design engineering role for related equipment.
Familiar with Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode Effects Analysis.
Exceptional communication and documentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to model behavior consistent with an IIF (Incident and Injury Free) culture.
Knowledge of SAP PM (Plant Maintenance).
