Manage the personnel and activities of all sections of the DER Planning and Engineering, including driving strategy and policy in Illinois, collaborating with capacity planning ,OCC (Operation Control Center), Regional Engineering and Operations, TSO (Transmission System Operation), LCS (Large Customer Services), Legal and Regulatory areas, Safety and Environmental Services, etc. This role requires interacting with legislatures, presenting at workshops, wring ComEd's Multi-Year Grid Plan, Managing Hosting Capacity Investment Category and aligning on key issues with ComEd's stakeholders. The Sr. manager should:
- Assure the development and effective implementation of strategic initiatives.

- Develop and maintain an environment that promotes safety, diversity and inclusion, and high productivity.
Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
Primary Duties
- Manages the development and implementation of short- and long-term strategic initiatives designed to assure the highest levels of customer services and to achieve Exelon's safety, reliability and performance goals.
- Functionally focused balancing a mix of day-to-day operations and policy with strategic planning. Provides direction on core philosophies to the Company. Makes decisions on key business activities, which have a direct impact on the department or operations, indirect impact on other departments and/or the Company. Miscalculation might have long recovery period.
- Manage the overall budget of the department and Hosting Capacity expansion initiatives. Establish and monitor corporate business plans and business unit objectives.
- Provide grid planning support, come up with innovative programs to enable hosting capacity, connect DERs timely onto the grid.
- Provide technical thought-leadership around developing policies at state and federal level such as Value of DER, Non-Wires Alternatives, Virtual Power Plants, Community Solar and Storage programs, DERMS and Flexible interconnection approaches, Marginal Cost Studies, Cost Benefit analysis for hosting capacity programs.
- Interact with Legislator, provide testimonies and support as Responsible Business Person, testify in rate cases, and align with external stakeholders on key issues.
- Develop and maintain an environment that fosters a high-performance culture and a learning organization. Promote safety and diversity. Serves as a change agent for business initiatives and assures the human element is understood and considered. Assure timely recognition of employee contributions.
- Provide leadership to and development of the management team. Provide accurate and timely feedback regarding performance and operations. Conduct performance planning and appraisals. Identify opportunities for growth and learning.
- Establish, maintain and improve relationships with other departments in Exelon.
- Facilitates open and honest communication with staff. Assures that upward communication is integrated into the process, including employee concerns and complaints. Develop methods to assess communication effectiveness and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
