Performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, design engineering, project management and construction, and operations activities related to routine, non-routine, and emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the coordination of various Substation Construction projects in Entergy Arkansas
- Responsible for preparing construction contracts, construction schedules, cost tracking, progress reporting and project team coordination within a strong matrix organization to facilitate safe construction of facilities from 13.8kV to 500kV for both internal and external customers
- Job will require providing engineering field technical support to substation construction crews
- Job will require technical reviews of Substation (Electrical and Relay Controls) packages issued for construction
- Responsible for participating in the planning, scoping, and brainstorming sessions with all applicable departments, and a diverse customer base (internal and external)
- The Engineer is responsible for seeing projects through the entire implementation process by establishing and/or contributing to the project schedule, cross-functional coordination, preparing construction estimates, identifying resources (internal or contract), development and preparation of scopes of work for necessary resources, commitment to fostering and encouraging all safety measures, performing quality assurance and control, verifying and processing of invoices, completion of as-builts, and project closeout activities
- Engineer must be dedicated and committed to providing a safe, quality, and productive work environment conducive to meeting all obligations required by policies, procedures, specifications, and applicable laws of the local, state, and national agencies
- The engineer must be able to communicate and collaborate with multiple organizations
- These communications articulate into the Construction Engineer performing a wide variety of duties such as, identification of safety hazards, the elimination/mitigation of hazards on projects, environmental stewardship, development of project scopes, development of project estimates, development of construction sequence plans, development of project schedules, performing constructability review, tracking/receiving materials and equipment, requesting contract proposals, identifying and initiating environmental compliance tactics, coordination of schedules, outage identification/coordination, deficiency resolution, quality assurance, reporting cost, issue resolution, and closure of projects
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution.
- Degrees in engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution with PE may be considered.
Minimum Experience:
Engineer I: 0 - 2 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
Engineer II: at least 2 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
Engineer III: at least 4 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
Engineer Sr: at least 6 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
Preferred: power system, relay, or substation experience.
