JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Design Engineer.
Reporting to the Manager of Design Engineering, this position is responsible to coordinate and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to understand design inputs and requirements, schedules, finances and performance for the assigned projects.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide technical and process support to field work, under Projects and Work Order Holds
Initiate, prepare, and issue all required design documentation;
Prepare design, calculations, design bills of material, specifications and address design related field issues;
Provide advice and/or direction to Design Leads, review designs and sign Field Initiated Changes;
Prepare Design Change Packages such as Permanent Modifications, Temporary Modifications and Non-Identical Component Replacements;
Maintaining written documented processes and procedures to reflect improved operating methods and additions to all supported systems;
Provide Engineering Change Control guidance, provide active support to field issues and Field Initiated Changes, and facilitate a positive outcome with EPC vendors;
Maintain process compliance during project execution.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor of Engineering (4-year Degree)
· Minimum of 2 Years related Engineering experience
· Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario, or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario
· Knowledge of OPG's ECC Process (Engineering Change Control) will be an asset.
· Design Engineering experience, ideally with experience supporting Nuclear Power Plants.
· Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups in order to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills and must be comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations.
· Have a strong interest in fast-paced, challenging work environment where showing initiative and self motivation are assets.
· Strong in understanding, executing and following governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimum required supervision.
