Summary
This position develops, revises, delivers, and evaluates assigned training courses throughout the service territory that meet Company needs and comply with applicable requirements and regulations using effective instructional methods and technologies. (May require up to 40% travel throughout the year.)
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Directly or through others, the incumbent:
- Plans, delivers, and documents assigned training activities in a safe and professional manner using effective adult learning principles, also evaluates learner skills and knowledge.
- Helps to develop and revise assigned training courses.
- Helps perform training needs analyses to identify job performance and training needs.
- Assists in the development of a cost-effective training schedule.
- Occasionally works as a Field Training Coordinator (FTC) to support apprentices, supervisors, and managers through the Oncor Lineworker Apprenticeship Program (OLAP).
- Manages assigned training classes to meet client needs.
- Assists in the construction/maintenance of training facilities (e.g., pole yard, materials, fleet maintenance, rubber goods).
Education, Experience, & Skills
- Required: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent with 5 years of experience in overhead/underground transmission/distribution maintenance/construction linework OR an Associates degree in a related field (e.g., AAS in Electrical Lineworker) and 4 years of experience in overhead/underground transmission/distribution maintenance/construction linework.
- Required: Knowledgeable and competent in application of current craft/technical theories and techniques within appropriate discipline.
- Required: Post-apprenticeship lineworker experience (e.g., journeyman lineman, senior lineman, first-class lineman).
- Required: Ability to safely and effectively demonstrate linework activities such as climbing, bucket trucks, and pole setting.
- Required: One year of instructor-led or on-the-job training experience required. (e.g., professional trainer or instructor, guest instructor for craft/technical training, medic first aid, safety training, etc.)
- Required: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Required: Strong skills and abilities in adult learning and training delivery.
- Required: CDL Class A license
- Strongly Preferred: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, vendors, contractors, and customers while fostering and implementing effective teamwork, problem solving, and time management skills.
- Strongly Preferred: Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strongly Preferred: Solid working knowledge of applicable Company policies, procedures and work rules and government regulations.
- Preferred: Formal training/education as a training instructor (e.g., college, certificate).

- Develops and delivers safe, effective, relevant, technically accurate, and innovative performance-based training that meets Company needs and complies with applicable requirements and regulations.
- Collaborates and coordinates work activities with other functions, clients, peers, experts, and others as needed to provide assigned training.
- Maintains applicable technical and craft certifications/qualifications, skills, and knowledge.
