In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Quality division is currently hiring for a Supplier Lead Auditor in the Independent Oversight department.
As an integral part of the Quality organization, the Independent Oversight department is responsible for ensuring that it promotes safe and efficient operation of Bruce Power's business by conducting independent assessments on behalf of top management to confirm that the Bruce Power Management System (BPMS) meets the regulatory, legal, and statutory requirements and its effective implementation.
The Supplier Lead Auditor is accountable, on a Supplier basis, to lead audits and/or surveys of Suppliers and their Sub Suppliers. As a Supplier Audit Team Lead, they provide leadership, instruction, advice, guidance, and clarification to a team covering a specified length of time, specific Audits and Surveys.
This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.
What will you be responsible for?
- Applying knowledge of applicable Quality Assurance Standards and Supplier Auditing Techniques, the Supplier Lead Auditor will ensure the validity, objectivity and factual content of observations, ensure reasonable conclusions are made based on the evidence and, report results and provide recommendations to the Approved Supplier List Desk Authority

Follow up on Supplier corrective actions to ensure gaps identified are addressed

Perform periodic Supplier QA Performance Assessments/Surveys between regularly scheduled audits
Specific Responsibilities:
-
Travel to Supplier and Sub Supplier locations to lead Audits at Supplier Facilities. It is expected that a large percentage of the Supplier Lead Auditors role will involve travel to and at the Supplier facility.

Ability to work extra hours throughout the audit phase and requires extensive travel over weekdays/weekends.

Travel within and outside of Canada is required for this position. The ability to obtain valid passport documentation to travel internationally, including the United States, is essential.

Must be able to qualify as a Supplier Lead Auditor and attain Nuclear Pressure Boundary Lead Auditor status

Maintain Nuclear Supplier Lead Auditor status through audit participation and training
-
Lead and conduct comprehensive audits of suppliers to assure Supplier QA Program adequacy and implementation effectiveness to the applicable QA Standard, taking into account the product and methods of manufacture employed by the Supplier

Ensure Supplier is controlling their sub suppliers, in an effective manner and in keeping with the defined Quality Assurance Standard and their own Quality Assurance Manual and/or procedures

Provide leadership, instruction, advice, guidance, assistance and clarification to an audit team covering a specified length of time and ensure compliance

Assign tasks, monitor work performance, and provide feedback and redirection, as necessary

Ensure the validity, objectivity, and factual content of observations. Ensure reasonable conclusions are made based on the evidence. Responsible to establish and maintain integrity of the Audit team's results

Coordinate with the supplier to organize audit details such as schedule and scope of audit

Obtain and review required documentation in advance to determine readiness of the supplier for the defined audit

Develop/revise audit checklists to support efficient and consistent auditing of suppliers to the designated standard(s)

Provide, as a team lead, consultative services to coordinate work assignment, team activities, logical relationships and to verify availability of resources and tools for the team

Prepare and present the audit plan to supplier senior management. Discuss concerns regarding evaluation standards, objectives and scope of the audit. Where differences of opinion exist, influencing the supplier management to understand and accept the overall business need for the audit applying a high degree of tact and diplomacy

Prepare and complete the required final audit checklists and final audit reports for review and approval by Bruce Power supplier management personnel

Prepare and present audit results to Executive members of the supplier's management. Discuss concerns and influence Executives to take appropriate corrective actions to ensure success

Track and follow-up on audit findings and recommendations identified during audits to closure. Evaluate the completion and effectiveness of Corrective Actions with review of objective evidence submitted by the supplier

Provide both written and verbal briefings to regulatory agencies, Bruce Power and Supply management regarding the scope, status, and conclusions of audits when required. Respond to inquiries and requests from station and corporate Supply and Procurement Engineering

Evaluate performance of Auditors relative to internal standards. Provide feedback, coaching and mentoring, as required, to improve performance

Meet with appropriate sections of the Bruce Power to clarify the objectives of the audit which include but may not be limited to the scope of supply from the vendor and the required QA standard the procurements will be required to be provided under

Maintain an awareness of audit industry best practices and integrate them into Bruce Power audits/assessments practices

As required, provide support to the department by developing/revising qualification standards, training materials, procedures, checklists and/or audit schedules

Provide assistance in the development of audit/survey strategic plans, schedules, and performance measurement including writing reports to ensure comprehensive and timely oversight

On a supplier basis, complete periodic performance assessments to identify supplier quality performance issues or trends
-
On an exception basis, provide advice, guidance, and support to clients as an informed expert on the vendor quality assurance specification requirements and vendor approval process relative to the Company's regulatory requirements

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of technical requirements (basis along with codes and standards)

Knowledge and experience in Quality Management and Quality Assurance principles

Knowledge/experience with Canadian and International standards (CSA N286, N299.X - 2016 Series, 10CFR50 Appendix B, CSA Standards N285.0 & B51, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, ISO 9001, ISO 17025, etc.

Knowledge/experience in CANDU Generating Stations is highly desired

Knowledge/experience in manufacturing processes such as welding, brazing, machining, forging, etc.

Software proficiency (i.e., MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)

Must have excellent written and communication skills

Strong Technical report writing skills
Education and Experience:
-
This knowledge is normally considered to be acquired through completion of a four (4) year University degree in an appropriate field such as Engineering or Science
-
Minimum 8 years up to an including 10 years of experience is considered necessary
-
Holds or has previously held Lead Auditor certification
-
Holds or has previously held a maintenance, design, procurement, or system engineering position
-
Experience in power plant design, operations, maintenance or in the nuclear industry with practical experience in quality assurance with at least 5 years being equivalent supervisory/management level technical or quality assurance related
