This Engineer position provides technical engineering, design, and analytical support to participate in the maintenance of the simulator model and development of new solutions. Performs in depth research on plant systems in order to compare simulator model performance to plant performance, develop software patches and install patches into simulator systems. Reviews and implements plant modifications into the simulators. Utilizes 3D printer to develop simulator equipment solutions. Maintains various simulator computer systems and simulator networks. Performs troubleshooting of simulator systems and simulator model requiring skills and experience gained through application of engineering methods and analysis. Has increasing responsibility for technical decisions and interpretations. Provides technical guidance and leadership to others as needed. Will provide on-call support to simulator operations on a rotational basis. Replaces and refurbishes simulator hardware and implements lock-out tag out within the simulator. Interfaces with simulator stakeholders to resolve simulator issues.
Minimum Requirements
Engineer III:
A four-year Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution or an ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) plus five (5) years working experience in Engineering-related positions.
Engineer Sr:
A four-year Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline (see approved list) from an ABET accredited institution, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution or an ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) plus eight (8) years working experience in Engineering-related positions.
Approved degrees:
Materials Science/Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Computer Science, Environmental, Chemical, Structural.
(A four-year bachelor of Engineering Technology degree is not considered an automatic equivalent for a B.S. degree in Engineering. A review of the degree program curriculum must be completed by Engineering department management.)
Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:
- Proficient with multiple coding languages and basic network maintenance functions.
- Moderate understanding of thermohydraulic conditions under dynamic conditions.
Nuclear requirement:
- Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.
- Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.
- This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.
