Description
Reporting to the Director, IT Infrastructure Operations and Cyber Security, the Contract, Manager, Infrastructure Operations is responsible for leading the administration and support of the company's Server (including Server/Desktop/App Virtualization technologies), Storage & Backup environments, while maintaining optimum security. The incumbent will collaborate closely with other IT stakeholders to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate server, storage and backup requirements needed to meet the needs of the Business. The incumbent processes business requirements to implement applicable server, storage, backup management solutions, utilizing optimal methodologies and software for administering server, storage and backup infrastructure. Leading a team of IT professionals, the incumbent manages and maintains systems, processes, standard operating procedures and tools for supporting x86/IBM pSeries server environment, SAN & NAS storage and online/offline backup systems. The successful incumbent is accountable for asset, capacity and lifecycle management and provides operational support to the capital programs with server, storage and backup dependencies and automated grid solution implementations across all business functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads, develops, implements and monitors plans to support server, storage and backup systems.
  • Proactively identifies problems and opportunities for improvement of service and systems, including architecture, service level improvement and cost efficiency.
  • Manages and coaches a team of technical professionals to deliver timely service to internal and external clients (safety, performance development, attendance).
  • Conducts formal performance reviews and provides feedback to team members on performance.
  • Responsible for Enterprise Server/Virtualization (x86/IBM pSeries), App/Desktop virtualization, Storage (SAN/NAS) and Backup Infrastructure.
  • Provides support for Corporate Capital Projects.
  • Manages operational costs, budgets, negotiates and manages contracts/invoices.
  • Maintains server, storage and backup inventory and licensing.
  • Manages server, storage and backup assets, including, procurement, implementation, monitoring, maintenance and operations, capacity.
  • Maintains and upgrades the infrastructure to comply with asset lifecycle and capacity models.
  • Interacts with Business Units to facilitate business requirements intake.
  • Implements and maintains server, storage and backup security.
  • Responsible for server, storage and backup tuning and performance monitoring and resource balancing.
  • Manages response to incidents and issue resolution, life cycle management/refresh and continuous improvement to improve reliability.
  • Establishes and maintains server, storage and backup High Availability and Disaster Recovery procedures.
  • Ensures cross training of resources to ensure appropriate backup resources are available for Disaster Recovery.
  • Ensures access is appropriate for backup resources to perform Disaster Recovery procedures.
  • Sets up and maintains server, storage and backup related documentation and operating procedure.
  • Provides inputs to the development of server, storage and backup standards and ensures compliance with approved standards.
  • Maintains server, storage and backup patch management and version control.
  • Manages the creation and updating of server, storage and backup standard operating procedures.
  • Owns and manages internal process to support server, storage and backup services.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree or College Diploma in information systems, computer science, engineering, business preferred. Related discipline maybe considered. 
  • Ten (10) years' experience in Information Technology.
  • Seven (7) years' experience with server, storage and backup support (x86, IBM Power, Virtualization, SAN/NAS), asset lifecycle management and infrastructure planning.
  • Five (5) years' progressive project leadership experience; direct supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of server, storage and backup systems such as Cisco UCS, IBM Power, AIX, Windows Server, Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware vSphere, Fiber-Channel SANs, Storage Arrays, Network Attached Storage (NAS), EMC Data Domain/Networker backup environments, Citrix VDI, Microsoft App-V.
  • Knowledge of traditional and emerging IT methodologies.
  • Experience in project management, business requirements planning, process engineering and process improvements.
  • Proven track record in developing and managing internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong analytical problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of standard and best practice frameworks and methodologies (e.g. ITIL).
  • Negotiating skills and the ability to influence others.
  • Strong vendor management skills.
  • Superior interpersonal skills with a customer service orientation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
