The Facilities Reliability & Integrity Engineering Services (FRIES) organization is a team of experts who leverage deep technical skills and subject matter expertise to maximize the value of TC Energy's facilities assets across North America. The FRIES organization is accountable for fit for purpose technical standards and asset management strategies that balance risk, asset performance and cost. FRIES also provides escalated subject matter expert (SME) support to resolve complex engineering challenges and support operations and project engineering functions.
The Industrial Controls & Cybersecurity (IC&C) team within FRIES comprises engineering SMEs with deep technical expertise on systems and equipment core to gas facilities processes, but outside of the prime mover (i.e. compressor units and the main pipeline through facilities). The IC&C team consists of Industrial Controls and Cybersecurity engineering SMEs and has four primary accountabilities - technical authority for engineering standards, Tier 3 (escalated) engineering support to operations engineering, development of asset management strategies, and projects engineering support.
IC&C Team is seeking an Industrial Controls System (ICS) Engineer who has industry and technical knowledge and experience in gas facilities (Automation & Electrical [A&E] and/or Measurement & Regulation [M&R]) industrial control systems.
What you'll do

Manage Business Unit (BU) adherence to Cyber Security policies/standards

Perform tracking and recording of firmware and patching levels for all ICS hardware/software

PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, GE)

Switches (managed, Cisco IOS-based)

Other ethernet-based hardware (protocol converters, VFDs, soft starters, etc )

Measurement assets (RTU's, flow meters, chromatographs, etc.)

VMware-based server systems

Windows Server-based Virtual Machines

Thin Clients

Implement and perform firmware and patching upgrades for all ICS A&E and M&R hardware/software

Maintain the digital asset inventory for all TC Energy Industrial Control System (ICS) assets in all North America

Work with corporate groups to make sure US ICS assets are meeting all TSA mandates
-
Adjust BU practices, as necessary, to conform to applicable Cyber Security mandates
-
Monitor for and track all applicable vulnerabilities, risk rank them, and help formulate remediation steps

Train BU personnel on practices necessary to meet Cyber Security requirements

Perform engineering or engineering-related studies requiring the application of company, governmental and industry codes, standards, procedures and guideline

Provide engineering and construction/project management assistance to field teams and the Engineering and Construction group

Act as a resource for field teams to identify and resolve problems, analyze malfunctions, make modifications or repairs, and provide assistance where needed

Maintain Asset Management Plans, Integrity Plans, and Facility Management Plans

Installation, maintenance, and support of Virtualized systems

Adjust ICS practices, as necessary, to conform to applicable Cyber Security mandates

Maintain and expand expertise in accordance/conjunction with current and emerging technology. Remain cognizant of how and what leading edge control technology is being applied (or not applied) and implement change to ensure the most efficient and effective operations are maintained in a Cyber Safe manner.

Be a conduit for information sharing by communicating best practices, improvement opportunities, new technologies and general information to others in the organization

Promote and provide for standardization among field operations including the standardization of equipment, maintenance functions, programs, and consistent application of procedures

Provide technical guidance and participate in planning, providing and reviewing related technical training
-
Monitor data acquisition systems and related computer equipment, and coordinate any software modifications
-
Audit facilities to ensure compliance with Company Standards, Policies and Procedures, and governmental and industry codes

Provide for the archival of automation program software and current backups
-
Coordinate appropriate roundtables

Coordinate service representatives' visits/support

Minimum qualifications
-
Four-year degree in an Engineering discipline or graduation from a 2 to 3 year technical school (applicants without an Engineering degree, but who have significant experience, may align to the Technologist job ladder)

6+ years of related experience

Operating knowledge of Active Directory, Windows, and VMWare authentication mechanisms

Operating knowledge of electrical, controls, automation, and/or M&R systems

Operating knowledge of various PLC and HMI and/or M&R platforms
Preferred qualifications

Install, configure, maintain, repair, & support computer hardware & software on workstation & server platforms

Operating knowledge of data management, scripting, data entry, and presentation systems

Experience in PowerBI and/or other reporting/dashboarding systems
