Job Summary
This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, inspections and basic repairs on utility vehicles and equipment. Includes, but is not limited to passenger cars, pickup trucks, SUV's, medium and heavy trucks, trailers and off road equipment. Maintenance operations may take place in the garage or at field locations during various work schedules depending on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Performs preventative maintenance (PM) inspections on light & medium duty vehicles/equipment and assists higher classification of technicians with PM's on all vehicles and equipment.

Performs required State emission inspections.

Assists with Federal DOT inspections.

Adheres to all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) for DOT inspections.

Provides assistance on dielectric test inspections.

Performs diagnostics and repairs on light and medium vehicles, (gas & diesel) forklifts, trailers and powered equipment.

Maintains the appropriate level of technical competence required to diagnose and repair vehicles/equipment.

Performs hydraulic brake systems and component repairs.

Assists with hydraulic component repairs.

Assists with air brake system inspections and repairs.

Assists higher classification of technicians with diagnostics and repairs on all vehicles/equipment.

Troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs basic electric system components, cranking, lighting, charging and assist with basic A/C systems and component repairs.
Basic/Required Qualifications:

Vehicle Maintenance Technician I

Two year associate degree or certificate in auto, diesel, or heavy equipment mechanics from a vocational school

In addition to required education above, one (1) year minimum of related experience

In lieu of the required education, high school diploma AND two (2) years minimum of related experience
Vehicle Maintenance Technician II

Two year associate degree or certificate in auto, diesel, or heavy equipment mechanics from a vocational school
