WGL - Supervisor, Gas Control
Responsible for focusing heavily on training of Gas Controllers to ensure correct control of flow and pressures are maintained throughout the entire pipeline system(s). Assists with managing the Gas Control team in routing gas flows from supply to market, assessing probable effects of weather, and managing a variety of supply issues/emergencies. This position will assist with maintaining the Control Room Management Program and works as a key partner with Energy Acquisition ensuring daily purchases are made to arrive at needed locations to ensure system reliability, integrity and safety. This position has 24 hour responsibility for emergency response regarding all gas control matters and serves as a subject matter transmission expert.
You Will
Manages the day-to-day Operations in the Control Room including the oversight and review of daily activities
Oversees the delivery strategies to meet customer needs/system requirements.
Actively participates during critical, real-time supply emergencies or operational events
Works with Energy Acquisition and Gas Controllers on strategies to match system load with available resource, and to identify assets available for optimization.
Ensures compliance with pipeline tariffs and Operational Flow Orders
Assists with coordination response to system emergencies including notification of field supervision, crew personnel, local emergency services, and internal protocols, and uses independent judgement in acting as the overall coordinator for information flow and response allocations
Maintain a schedule to ensure there are no gaps in shifts and compliance with requirements and procedures.
Oversees all Control Room Management (CRM) responsibilities, review controllers' records to verify completeness, and maintain records to fulfill requirements
You Have
Bachelor's Degree in business or a field related or equivalent experience preferred
5+ Years relevant experience required
Ability to learn the WGL transmission/distribution system and supply management.
Ability to conceptualize and analyze multiple scenarios in solving broadly defined business problems.
Ability to use tact and diplomacy while leading a team atmosphere.
Ability to communicate clearly and accurately during times of stress and make quick independent decisions when managing rapidly changing circumstances.
Ability to proficiently operate company software and information systems for analysis, decision making, and presentation purposes.
Working knowledge of pipeline storages, interstate pipelines, peaking facilities, and Washington Gate station facilities.
Understanding of the role of Asset Optimization and its impact on supply, storage, and distribution systems.
