Idaho Power located in vibrant Boise, Idaho is looking for a Materials Handler to join our Corporate Services & Communications team. It's an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a Materials Handler do for us?

The Materials Handler, with limited supervision, receives, stores, retrieves, and issues electrical utility materials, tools, supplies, and equipment; uses a computerized Enterprise Resource Planning system to accurately record all materials movement transactions; develops and maintains indoor and outdoor storage areas; maintains organization, cleanliness and 5S Standards within facility and daily workspace; and ensures a safe working environment through regular safety inspections and cleaning and maintenance of all storage and work areas and equipment. They must work in a team-oriented environment with high focus on customer satisfaction. Work is performed in both a warehouse and yard environment, which involves working with chemicals, equipment, hand and power tools, and material that requires special handling, storage, and packaging due to exposure to potential environmental and safety hazards.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Knowledge of:

  • Proper and safe handling, loading/unloading, moving, storing, and shipping of materials
  • Safe use of hand tools and equipment
  • ERP system experience
  • General warehousing including 5S Lean standards

Skills in:

  • Basic PC operations, including use of Microsoft Office products
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Teamwork
  • Basic math
  • Problem solving and researching

Ability to:

  • Maintain neat, accurate, and legible records
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Interact effectively with public, team members, and members of other work teams
  • Perform moderately heavy manual labor while focusing on safety


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED

Experience:

  • 3 years of warehouse materials handling experience within the last 5 years including forklift utilization and inventory management/ERP system experience

Preferred:

  • 5 years of utility materials handling experience in the last 7 years including forklift and inventory management or ERP system experience

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
  • Must obtain First Aid/CPR card and Idaho Power forklift certification within 30 days
  • Forklift certification requirements include rough terrain, counterbalance, and narrow aisle certifications

Preferred:

  • Idaho Power certification to operate forklifts and manlifts, First Aid/CPR card, or DOT PHMSA 49 CFR Part 172 hazardous materials training at time of hire
