This position would be manually engaged in the operation and maintenance of the gas distribution systems with primary responsibilities to include the following: customer service, field operations, compliance related operations and maintenance, leak surveys, Cathodic Protection and system/equipment upgrades. More specifically responsible for measurement, instrumentation and control activities for meter and regulating stations on transmission and distribution systems and facilities, as applicable. All work to be performed in accordance with Company regulatory and safety procedures.
Accountabilities
Performs the basic level functions required to operate, maintain, test, and calibrate measurement and/or instrumentation and control facilities and systems.
Assists with basic functions related to large diaphragm, turbine, rotary, orifice, ultrasonic and coriolis meters.
Assists with basic functions related to RTU and other SCADA equipment.
Assists with basic functions related to communication circuits and equipment such as radio, modems, satellite, land lines, etc.
Coordinates and performs measurement tests with third party companies to ensure measurement integrity and accuracy.
Inspects, tests, calibrates and maintains electronic correctors, EFMs and other electronic measurement devices.
Inspects, tests, calibrates and maintains natural gas quality analysis equipment such as samplers, chromatographs, hydrogen sulfide and moisture detection equipment.
Inspects and replaces orifice plates to maintain measurement accuracy consistent with natural gas flow requirements and conditions.
Inspects, tests, calibrates and maintains electronic meters and flow measurement devices.
Executes scheduled gas measurement equipment inspections, tests, calibrations and maintenance.
Inspects, tests, calibrates and maintains gas odorization equipment.
Operates and maintains natural gas sampling equipment and instrumentation.
Monitors natural gas quality to ensure contract compliance and initiates enforcement actions when needed.
Investigates operational balancing systems, and implements appropriate actions to continuously improve results to satisfy desired targets.
Assists by reviewing information provided by internal systems related to lost and unaccounted for gas.
Perform Leak Survey's and with knowledge of leak survey equipment, processes and procedures.
Maintain and have knowledge of Cathodic Protection systems.
Investigate Cathodic Protection system shorts.
Must participate in the MIC Skills Assessment/Promotion Process including baseline assessment.
Performs activities to ensure responsiveness to natural gas and other emergencies.
Completes and maintains accurate records and reports to comply with Company and regulatory requirements.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
May be required to hold stand-by duty, work shifts, holidays, weekends, emergency call outs, and occasional extensive hours.
Is subject to reporting outside regular work area.
Identifies, addresses, and reports safety and encroachment issues to their resolution and completion.
Is responsible for the safe operation and inspection of assigned Company vehicles and equipment.
Demonstrates support for and adheres to the Company's values, strategies, policies and procedures and exhibits the core values of Customer Service and Safety and the Company's Code of Conduct both as an individual contributor, team member and/or leader of others.
Must become familiar with the contents of the Safety Manual, live by the spirit of its intent and become involved in creating and maintaining a safe working environment. Must complete all required safety training.
Education and Experience
Educational/Experience Level:
High school diploma or equivalent and
Four years natural gas measurement, construction and maintenance or service field experience.
Certificates and Licenses:
Must obtain and maintain any other required OQs and classroom training or certifications within six months.
Requires a valid driver's license in accordance with Company standards.
Work Conditions:
Work requires entry to customer premises.
Works outdoors in all types of weather and may be exposed to extremes of climate and temperatures, high noise levels, rough terrain, and occasional work on ladders, roofs, attics, and under houses as well as confined spaces.
Requires extensive travel.
Must reside within a twenty-five (25) mile radius from the work site location.
Works as an individual contributor and/or as member of a team.
Physical Demands:
Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
Requires the acute sense of sight and hearing (corrected or uncorrected) and strong sense of smell.
Must be able to lift tools, equipment and materials up to and including 60 pounds
Other Requirements: As a Safety-Sensitive position, pre and post-employment screenings, including but not limited to drug testing as outlined by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), and motor vehicle record (MVR) background checks are required.
EFFORT: Computer Skills: Requires advanced knowledge of various software applications and multiple technologies to create documents, reports and/or graphics.
