As the Director, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), you will play a pivotal role in shaping risk strategies, enhancing business continuity, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Reporting to the Vice President, Legal & General Counsel, you will identify and mitigate emerging risks, develop risk frameworks, and foster a proactive risk management culture across the organization.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • ERM: Develop, implement, operate, monitor, adapt, and audit adherence to the ERM program, including risk framework and assessment, risk appetite, risk mitigation, methodology, RACI matrix, policies, procedures, systems, and internal communication and education, all in alignment with the strategic plan and direction from the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Identify, measure, manage, and monitor current and emerging risks. Foster an enterprise-wide risk management philosophy to day-to-day problem-solving and decision-making through ongoing collaboration, education, communications, and internal audit/review.
  • Business Continuity Management: Recommend governance principles, and lead the organization, monitoring and continuous improvement of the enterprise business continuity and disaster recovery program, policy, framework, systems, and operational procedures in consultation with Executives, Corporate Communication, Operational and Information Technology / Cyber Security teams, Customer Service, Engineering & Operations, Finance/Regulatory, Health & Safety, Human Resources, external agencies and consultants, and other identified stakeholders. Perform risk assessments, and business impact analysis, and coordinate and manage continuity planning/tabletop exercises both internally and in coordination with relevant external agencies (e.g. City of London, IESO). In partnership with Corporate Communications, manage and implement (as necessary) the corporation’s Crisis Management Plan.
  • Data and Reporting: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to collect relevant and accurate qualitative and quantitative data/information. Conduct ongoing scans to identify trends and/or emerging risks. Develop and ensure ongoing accuracy and effectiveness of enterprise risk management and business continuity reports, KPIs, and dashboards. Provide regular updates to relevant stakeholders. Prepare correspondence, memoranda, project plans, proposals, recommendations, and meeting presentations. Prepare thorough, persuasive narrative evidence, arguments, models, forecasts, and analyses in support of corporate positions in rate and regulatory applications/filings.
  • Documents and Records: Maintain confidential and general files (digital and hard copy), ensuring that corporate records about risk management and business continuity are organized, maintained, accessible, and retained and/or destroyed in accordance with record retention policy and procedure.
  • Compliance: Assist with interpretation, analysis, and implementation (when appropriate) of existing and proposed regulatory legislation, codes, guidelines, and market rules.  Assist with providing information, education, and/or advice regarding strategy, policy, and compliance with senior management, the Executive, and/or the Board of Directors. Present alternatives and recommend policy positions. Assist with privacy matters and Freedom of Information requests.  
  • Leadership: Represent the corporation, maintain beneficial business relationships, and advance the Company’s position through participation in external stakeholder committees, proceedings, and consultations. Participate in setting corporate and division goals and targets. Ensure corporate goals, targets, policies, and legislated regulatory requirements are being met internally and externally. Assist with privacy matters and Freedom of Information requests as required. Promote, encourage, and ensure the development, professionalism, and health and safety of the department’s team members.
  • Safety: Ensure personal and direct reports’ adherence to all Occupational Health & Safety Act rules and regulations, IHSA safety rules, London Hydro Safe Work Practices, Environmental Policies, and Health and Safety policies. Ensure personal and direct reports’ accident reports are reviewed and corrective action taken.
  • Perform other duties related to the above job purpose.

Requirements

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Successful completion of a degree or diploma in a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Successful completion/eligibility to receive the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of relevant, progressive experience in enterprise risk management and business continuity.
  • Knowledge of Ontario's electricity distribution industry is considered an asset.
  • Professional and effective oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in liaising with senior management and external agencies.
  • Strong leadership, management, supervisory, and project and change management skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective cross-functional relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Position necessitates a high degree of tact, diplomacy, discretion, confidentiality, and integrity.
  • Excellent judgment, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and committed to accuracy.
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
