We are looking for an experienced maintenance engineer to join the team at the Ottumwa Generating Station focused primarily on balance of plant equipment. At 750 MW (Gross) capacity, Ottumwa is the largest thermal unit in Alliant's Iowa fleet and its ongoing reliable operation is paramount to meeting the energy needs of our customers.
As a Senior Engineer - Generation, you will be responsible for; trouble shooting faults and providing timely technical direction/repair scope to the plant; executing projects from scoping through to completion including onsite contractor management; and conducting equipment inspections and health assessments, both as part of trouble shooting efforts and to meet statutory obligations. Understanding mechanical and structural codes and standards, equipment and system maintenance practices, equipment and system performance standards, failure modes, thermal cycles, cost/benefit analysis, and testing methodology is essential for this role.
Previous experience on coal conveyor systems, boiler duct work/expansion joints, air heaters, air quality control systems (AQCS) including SDAs and SCRs, pumps, cooling towers, fans and compressed air systems from either a power generation or heavy industrial environment is highly desirable.
This is a full time onsite role. Flexibility may be possible outside of outages and project execution to promote work life balance.

Understands various corporate financial statements and can differentiate how project implementation and property unit catalog (PUC) citations will impact the rate payer versus the shareholder, including providing input to PUC modifications as appropriate.

Supports Generation facility outages.

Bachelor's Degree Within an engineering program that is accredited through the Engineering Accreditation Commission
