Job Description

Margins retail electric large commercial contracts. Enters electric contract data in Oracle database. Schedules, confirms and tracks wholesale power transactions and daily retail demand at PJM. Performs PJM load, cost and revenue analysis throughout the month.  Supports Operations department retail pricing activities. Supports REC and Carbon Offset transaction tasks including deal confirmations, internal documentation, delivery tracking and retirements. Generates Operations department invoice requisitions and makes payments.

Responsibilities

  • Margins, enrolls and tracks retail large commercial contracts.
  • Enters electric retail contract data in WGL Energy database in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Schedules, confirms and tracks wholesale power transactions and daily retail demand entries at PJM Interconnection (PJM) or other Independent System Operator (ISO).
  • Performs daily, weekly and monthly scheduling processes as primary scheduler.
  • Analyzes customer loads for retail contract pricing.
  • Responds to customer pricing requests.
  • Produces and ensures the accuracy of standard and ad-hoc reports for management.
  • Collaborates with Quantitative Analysis, Operations and IT to understand and improve upon current models.
  • Performs daily reconciliation of retail load forecast.
  • Generates reports to assist with Electric Operations month-end financial close.
  • Communicates with wholesale counterparties, PJM and pipelines as necessary to facilitate timely payment of account payables.
  • Performs REC back-office functions including confirming trades, initiating contracts, contract language modifications, settlements and retirements. 
  • Generates requisitions and receives invoices for Operations' vendor payments in the accounts payable system.

Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree is required with a preference in a quantitative discipline. 
  • 0-2 years' experience in a professional office environment.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office applications. Oracle/SQL a plus
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in physical energy business, electricity industry or energy commodities a plus.
  • Project management skills including strong process-orientation with outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative while working in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments in a deadline-oriented role.
  • Self-initiator that can execute responsibilities with minimal supervision.
