Description
The Accountant - GBS Systems will serve as the primary liaison between the Accounting and IT teams, bridging the gap between financial operations and system functionality. This role is a blend of accounting expertise and technical proficiency, responsible for supporting system-related accounting tasks, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing processes in the ERP system. The Systems Accountant will ensure seamless integration of accounting processes with technology, handle system setup, and manage tasks that extend beyond traditional accounting functions.
Accounting and Systems Integration:
- Act as the main point of contact between the accounting and IT teams, ensuring effective communication and resolution of system-related issues.
- Support and troubleshoot issues within the ERP system related to accounting processes, ensuring that financial data flows seamlessly through the system.
- Set up new accounts, entities, and configurations in the ERP system to support the company's evolving business needs.
Process Optimization:
- Lead or contribute to process improvement initiatives, identifying areas where system enhancements can increase efficiency in accounting functions.
- Automate and streamline accounting processes where possible, reducing manual intervention and improving accuracy and speed.
Month-End and Accounting Duties:
- Assist with balance sheet and account analysis, preparing and reviewing journal entries and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, working within tight deadlines to ensure timely financial reporting.
Collaboration with IT:
- Collaborate with IT to troubleshoot system issues, resolve discrepancies, and implement solutions that align with accounting requirements.
- Facilitate training sessions for accounting team members on new systems, processes, or changes to the ERP environment.
Special Projects:
- Support the implementation of new systems or system upgrades.
- Help manage the integration of accounting systems with other enterprise tools or software.
- Participate in SOX compliance and audits as they relate to system and process controls.
Qualifications
- 6 years in general accounting environment
- Strong skills using Microsoft Excel and Word
- Strong critical thinking skills - understanding of complex problems and solutions
- Organizing and prioritizing workload to meet expectations
- Oracle or SAP ERP system experience preferred but not required
- Working in an environment using multiple ERP systems not directly connected
- Ability to look beyond current process to help re-engineer solutions for more accurate results
- Some experience dealing with International entities
- Exposure to Intercompany transactions and related balancing
