PRIMARY DUTIES: Performs work required to installing, removing, and maintaining secondary service conductors and meters of all standard secondary voltages, and types of service which they are normally equipped to handle and as approved by existing engineering standards.
Performs duties such as:
- Working under the direction of the Service Connections Team Leader and Service Connections Service Scheduler(s).

Installing, removing, replacing, terminating, and maintaining overhead service conductors between the main secondary supply and the customer's service.

Installing, removing, replacing, terminating, and maintaining secondary conductors from transformers and mainline secondary supply to pedestals, service poles, and customer equipment.

Installing, removing, replacing, terminating, and maintaining underground service conductors between the main secondary supply and the customer's service.

Installing, removing, replacing, terminating, and maintaining secondary services voltage risers Installing, removing, and replacing self-contained single-phase and poly-phase meters.

Energizing and de-energizing distribution transformers under the Distribution Operations Control Center Service Dispatcher's or supervisor's directives to obtain safe operating clearances for the performance of their primary duties.

Determining by inspection that all Company rules and regulations and the rules of other authoritative electrical inspectors have been complied with before placing a new installation in service. Installing and removing both overhead and underground temporary services.

Keeping accurate daily records of metering and services installed and related work as required. Making special meter readings for Customer Service.

Executing disconnect and reconnect special orders; and Coordinating work with customers, electricians, et al.; assisting supervisor to lead, train, teach, and instruct less experienced employees in the safe and efficient execution of this type of work.
In emergencies may be called upon to perform all necessary underground and overhead secondary low voltage work to restore electric service including the energizing or de-energizing of various types of overhead and underground distribution transformers.
May be called upon to respond to emergency calls, assess, and make safe wire down locations. This may include working under the direction of the Distribution Operations Control Center (DOCC) Service Dispatcher.
In addition to the primary duties listed above, the employee may be called upon to perform other work as circumstances require.
Must know and comply with all Company safety and health policies and procedures applicable to work performance.
QUALIFICATIONS: The applicant must pass the EEI Construction & Skilled Trades (CAST) test and the Line technician Physical Abilities Test (PAT). In addition, must be willing to work from any of the Company's operating centers, in inclement weather or emergencies and meet service commitments.
Additional consideration will be given for the following job-related training or experience:

Prior experience climbing wood poles or steel tower;

Previous experience in line construction; and
-
Any other qualifications contributing to the applicant's ability to perform the job.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Outdoor work required in various types of weather.
