At SPP, financial applications are the core of the services we provide, powering critical aspects of financial technology like credit, congestion hedging auctions, and regulatory rates. These applications are a mix of vendor and in-house developed solutions, built using technologies like Java, Springboot, React, C#, ASP.NET Core, SQL, and ETL processes.
We're looking for a Programmer Developer to join our evolving IT Financial Applications team! If you love working with new technologies, such as containers, Ansible, Kubernetes, and more, you'll fit right in. We're constantly exploring new tools to enhance how IT and the business collaborate.
In this role, you'll engage in the entire SDLC and project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, testing, deployment, and coordinating with teams, vendors, and stakeholders. You'll have the opportunity to multi-task, problem-solve, and support complex, highly integrated systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Enhancing, maintaining, and supporting both vendor and custom financial software applications that play a crucial role in SPP's financial operations.
- Helping facilitate transmission congestion rights auctions, managing member collateral requirements and credit amounts, and supporting network upgrade cost sharing.
- Ensuring regulatory rates and requirements are set accurately in accordance with the tariff.

To be successful as the Programmer Developer, we're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, related field, or equivalent work experience
- Senior Programmer Developer - Six (6) years of applicable Information Technology Development/Support experience
- Programmer Developer II - Three (3) years' experience of Information Technology Development/Support experience
- Competent and effective working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Unix or Linux operating systems, application development and support, and database management systems
- Competent and effective troubleshooting, problem solving, and analytical skills
- Competent and effective written and oral communication skills
- Competent understanding and effective working knowledge of SDLC and project life cycle methods and practices
- Good customer service and organization skills
Preferred:
- Two (2) or more years applicable utility industry experience
- Java, Springboot, React
- C#/ASPNETCORE, SQL, Extract Transform Load (ETL)
- Containers, Kubernetes, Docker
- Scripting experience: Powershell, Perl, Shell scripting
- Web Service / SOAP / WSDL / XSD Experience
- Ansible, JIRA, Bitbucket, and Jenkins Experience
- Oracle PL/SQL or Microsoft SQL Development Experience
