JOB SUMMARY:

The employee in this training classification will obtain an Interprovincial Journeyperson Powerline Technician Certificate upon successful completion of four apprenticeship years in accordance with the required training courses and experience.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
As a Powerline Technician Apprentice, under supervision you would:
Learn to construct, repair and maintain power pole lines and underground cable systems
Learn basic climbing skills, safety procedures, tool/material use, and operation of "Powered Mobile Equipment" before moving on to more complex technical skills and challenging assignments
Work outside in all types of weather - rain or shine
Work at various heights
Handle large, bulky, and often heavy materials or equipment
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Entrance requirements in accordance with the Provincial Apprenticeship and Trades Certification Standards
All Candidates MUST refer to and be eligible to meet the Saskatchewan equivalent Entrance Requirements for Apprenticeship Training as per the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission
Assessments, upgrades and/or equivalencies may be required; please refer to the SATCC or IQAS for further details
Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position
Must be willing to relocate anywhere in the province
Must be able to work in all types of weather
Valid Class 5 driver's licence
Ability to cooperate and deal tactfully with others
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
