Responsible for leading the portfolio and all projects within the portfolio for technology and process improvement projects that have technology requirements. Ensures that all aspects of effective portfolio management are addressed including intake of requests, prioritization and scheduling of projects within the portfolio and communication regarding the status of the portfolio.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibilities are varied and complex. Often works outside area of assigned duties. Applies advanced skills in multiple areas. Resolves complex issues which impact business operations both inside and outside own department. Makes unreviewed decisions related to the area of responsibilities. Opinions carry significant weight in policy and strategy decisions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leads the day-to-day mechanisms to report status for portfolio within the organization and to senior management.
Maintain the portfolio documentation and minutes of management decisions with respect to the portfolio.
Monitor resource constraints affecting the completion of projects in the portfolio.
Monitor projects in the portfolio - milestone schedule commitments, resources commitments and collects project information to update the portfolio.
Maintain a set of projects which form the portfolio for technology and process improvement that have technology requirements.
All other duties as assigned.
Ensure all required data for making portfolio decisions is complete and available for decision-making, working the functional managers and project managers to do so.
Administer the portfolio with respect to the intake of request and communication of status.
Leads the changes and promote the continuous improvement of portfolio management related processes.
Set overall direction of projects within BPI, ensuring consistency with corporate strategy, consistency of process across projects and customer satisfaction with the products.
Ensure that project benefits and costs allow for objective evaluation of projects against company objectives and thereby aid project approval decision-making.
Using the criteria defined, ensure that all projects are evaluated, to link their value to the corporate business strategy and business goal as well as constraints.
Provide leadership, organization and coordination to support the planning and governance of the Project Management Office.
Track and quantify the impact to the existing portfolio when new projects surface and works with department leadership and company senior management to recommend alternative strategies (resources, project sequencing etc.) for accomplishing desired projects.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree And 6 years of directly related professional experience in progressively responsible positions, And
3 years experience as a professional project manager; Or
10 years of directly related experience is required in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects within a portfolio or program management office.
Demonstrated experience utilizing proven project management techniques to budget and schedule resources.
Demonstrated experience in guiding and directing project management professionals.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Office work using computers.
May be required to work non-standard work hours.
Travel may be required.
