Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced US Senior Tax Analyst to join our Just Energy Tax Team. The Senior Tax Analyst will have primary responsibility over the US tax compliance and tax accounting function across Just Energy. In addition, the Senior Tax Analyst may assist with tax matters associated with enterprise initiatives, business transactions and tax projects. The US Senior Tax Analyst will be reporting to the US Tax Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the US direct tax compliance process, which includes but is not limited to:
    • Gather all relevant data required to complete all tax and informational returns
    • Prepare all workpapers, analyses and documentation supporting the tax returns
    • Liaise with external service providers to ensure all information requests and queries are properly and timely addressed
    • Maintain a tax compliance calendar to ensure all returns are timely filed
    • Prepare estimated tax payment calculations and payment requests
    • Assist with review of returns prepared by external service providers as appropriate
  • Prepare FATCA/W-8s/CRS reporting
  • Monitor tax payments/refunds and prepare estimates to assist Treasury with short and long-term cash tax forecasts
  • Proactively and effectively respond to tax queries and audits/assessments by corresponding with taxing authorities, performing technical analysis and research, and gathering documentation as appropriate
  • Responsible for preparing quarterly and annual US income tax provision working papers including supporting analysis and documentation
  • Responsible over US corporate tax accounts for financial reporting purposes to ensure activity and balances are reconciled and appropriately reflect the Company's tax position and status
  • Prepare actual cash tax paid schedule for financial reporting
  • Assemble the data required to support transfer pricing documentation
  • Assist with enterprise initiatives, business transactions and tax projects as needed
  • Participate in special projects/perform technical research as assigned by management
  • Stay up to date on the developments in US tax law and regimes that impact Just Energy
  • Maintain effective cross-functional working relationships  
  • Demonstrate Just Energy's core values on a consistent basis

REQUIREMENTS:

Education, certifications, experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or similar fields required
  • Certified Public Accountant designation required
  • + years of corporate tax experience in US federal and state
  • Big 4/public accounting and/or multinational organizations experience is a plus
  • US international tax experience highly valued (asset)
  • Thorough understanding of tax accounting under US GAAP, along with experience working on multinational company tax provisions is strongly desired
