The Business Analyst, Field Services will be responsible for designing and developing reports and measures; analyzing data to identify process improvements; cost-benefit analysis and special projects; storm invoice reconciliation; developing and maintaining the department's annual budget, and approves timekeeping for departmental employees.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Gather information for periodic and on-demand productivity/accounting reports to support day-to-day operations. Verify accuracy and reasonableness of data and communicates results.
- Design and develop new reports and measures as appropriate.
- Work with the management and support team to analyze business processes.
- Complete a variety of special projects, performing cost-benefit analysis.
- Assist in developing annual budgets and monthly variance reports and explain changes.
- Perform internal analysis geared towards improving EPB's operational and financial performance.
- Identify trends from data analysis and provide recommendations for improvement based on those findings.
- Perform technical research and construct analysis models that can be used to predict results for various inputs or conditions.
- Design and develop new reports for measuring performance.
- Complete a variety of special projects, performing cost-benefit analysis.
- Create and implement ways EPB can take data to improve performance, reduce costs and create better processes
- Pull data from multiple internal systems, identify "use causes" in need of resolution and then extrapolate out a solution that is applicable throughout the network of systems.
- Work with multiple groups throughout EPB and provide insight and input into new processes.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment in keeping critical and sensitive information, records, and reports.
- Work Storms to coordinate and track additional off-system electric crews, coordinate support requirements, and validate invoices.
- Track and validate monthly credit card expenses.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in business, finance, accounting, data processing, data analysis, or related field is preferred.
- Four to six years of related experience and/or training.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, Internet, and e-mail software.
- Adequate in mathematical computations and understand how to use formulas correctly in Excel spreadsheets.
CERTIFICATION(S) & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- A valid driver's license and demonstrate safe and responsible operation of motor vehicles. Must operate motor vehicles during normal working hours to perform various assigned tasks.
- Effective interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Capable of managing and completing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to consider various alternatives in arriving at the best solutions.
- Ability to learn Cognos reporting system.
